Yep that time of season again . Fall and the flare-ups begin.
Mine started in Sept. tho Came a month early.

Are you all getting the flares back after going thru what kind of treatments at first? I mean, how did you all get into remission and after a long time get flares up again?

I'm new to being diagnosed with Crohn's...why do you tend to flare in the fall?

I had a horrible flare up that started in May (which is how I finally got diagnosed) and it lasted until October when I went on medication (anti inflammatory and 6-MP). Since I started medication I've been doing okay, but is there something to know about the fall?

I would guess that the lessening sun exposure, weaker sunlight and therefore less vitamin D plays a role if the fall season increases symptoms with Crohn's.

Lyme disease also bring increased symptoms in the Fall and Spring. For the same reason I presume. In that case increased sun exposure in the spring boosts the immune system and kills Lyme bacteria which causes symptoms. Fall allows it to multiply easier which also increases symptoms.

Any other theories out there?

Dan

Flaring for the last 6 or so months possibly longer. Mine was bought on by servere stress. I'm on pred and pentasa but it's taking a long time to kick in. Usually takes a matter of days.

Thanx for the heads up D Bergy. I don't get it, I flared from May until October. July & August was when I experienced my worst symptoms. I started medication in mid october and I've been doing better since. Now I'm really confused. I didn't know I had to worry about the season too!

Couldnt of said it any better Dan. I have asked several Dr.s why spring and fall and none of them could really give me an answer that makes any sense to me or this disease.

Live and learn I guess

flaring so long I don't know what its like to NOT be flaring... sad to hear others are in the same condition... ugh!

It just becomes so routine doesn't it... feeling like total crap. I have had 2 rare moments of maybe 15 minutes where my body felt normal in the past 6 months. It's like the skys had lifted and the sun was shining down on me. I felt light, free and ready to face anything the world had to throw at me. "Oh my god! This is what it feels like to be normal!" then poof I'm feeling sluggish again.

*fingers crossed you get a few moments where you feel normal coming your way*

Yeah, I've been stuck in this flare for 1.5 years now.
I'm hoping this isn't damaging my body, but it probably is.
I'm so ready for some sort of remission.
