anyone else w/ achy pain in lower back?

anyone else w/ achy pain in lower back? or/and inflamation in their distal ileum?

cause, my back has been bothering me lately. i have constant dull-achiness in the lower back, both right and left. i am currently flaring and have inflammation in the distal ileum, according to a recent CT.

I'm very sorry you are having trouble with your lower back. I'm having a really bad flare right now and my lower back hurts too. However, both sides of my back hurt and so does the rest of my body. It feels more like muscle aches. I know I have inflammation and my meds aren't working at the moment. I see the doctor tomorrow.

The only advice I can give you is to make sure you don't develop any sharp pains along with a high fever. If that case should arise get in to see your doctor pronto. I think it takes awhile for some meds to work so hopefully it will start working for you soon. Hope you feel better!

Before I knew I had Crohn's I suffered a lot of back pain. My husband and I thought our Tempurpedic mattress had gone caput and almost sold it/got rid of it!

After I was hospitalized for my abscess and sent home 12 days later I slept like a baby. No back pain since! Not sure if it was because of the abscess or because my Crohn's wasn't being treated and I had inflammation everywhere.

Either way, I'm thinking once you get the flare under control the back pain goes away. My theory behind that is because you're experiencing pains in certain areas of your body, without realizing it, you're probably compensating for it while sleeping and lay awkwardly to avoid making the pain worse in that area. Thus, your alignment is all thrown off and you experience back pain and pains in other places.

It can happen sometimes with injuries. You sprain a muscle in your foot and all of a sudden you have back pains.

Oh, and my Crohn's is located in my terminal ileum.

When I am in a flare, yes, my back does get really sore.

My lower back has been SO achy these last few days. And a lot of nausea. :S I'm not flaring ATM, though... At least I hope this isn't the start of something. I'm just taking it easy, the last few weeks have really drained a lot of my energy.

Generally when you have pain in your abdomen your body puts more stress on your back muscles to try and compensate and the same goes for if you have back pain then your abdominal muscles help share the load. The pain can also radiate to other areas. Its quite common to have back pain during a flare because of these reasons.

Lower back pain is my first indication that I'm heading for blockage! It sometimes feels like it's on my hip then radiates down my leg too!
If you start vomiting, then go to ER
My Crohns is in Terminal Ileum too!

I had that yesterday both sides, and probably because even though my doc thinks the left side is irritable bowel, which I am betting it is not... the pain can radiate, I was scared yesterday thinking I have kidney stones again...Crap I had 4 and still have a small one in the back but dont want any more, went thru hell with Lithotripsy... mine were too big for laser... but I am asking for a different urologist. Just watch your pee, check for blood dots, could be an infection or stones too. But most likely radiated pain... stupid disease.:(

I often have back pain as well. I do think it is at least partly due to sleeping in awkward positions to try to lessen the pain.

It is hard to say for sure, but if you have any urination problem get checked out for a kidney/bladder infection.

Crohn's makes it more difficult to diagnose more common infections.

I get lower back pain a good bit, but I never really associated it with my crohns. I just figured it was from my job, and lifting up so much heavy stuff, and constantly bending up and down. I guess it could be a combo of both though.who knows.

I noticed you're on prednisone. I remember having really bad lower back pains only when I was on pred. It might be the case for you as well. Did you have pain before the prednisone?

I think with all the inflammation it can 'crowd' the other organs around your gut and give you back pain.
Along with using your back musles to over-compensate for the belly acting up like CR said.
A hot bath or a heating pad can work wonders, tho!
