I have been reading that Aloe Vera is really helpful for decreasing inflammation and for other benefits as well. I read its good for UC and IBS so it probably is good for Chron's as well.

Anyone try Aloe Vera, has it helped you? Do you recommend whole leaf, inner leaf? Gel or liquid?

Only on sunburn. Gel - right from the plant.

Hippie, I don't know where you come up with all of these ideas that I have never heard of, but I'm glad you're here and I hope you post about all of the things you may end up trying that many of us haven't.

(Ooo - that was warm and fuzzy, wasn't it? That's not like me! I think I need a beer to toughen myself up or something.)

LoL, aloe vera. Your not eating the gel are you? Or is there like some kind of herbal tea or something? Keep us informed on that one plz.

I actually am eating the gel yes. They sell tons of aloe gel drinks and aloe juice at health food stores. The gel has been comforting to my stomach lining. I think I will buy the juice next time as its easier to drink up and helps with absorption of vitamins.

I am aware of drinking aloe vera. They even sell bottles of it with a little bit of flavoring especially to be ingested as hippie says. I've never really tried it though. I don't think it would do anything for the intestines and I've never really had that much trouble with my stomach. I have a bottle of the drinking kind that we're using for my son's bottom (it was cheaper) and maybe if I get another stomach ulcer I'll try a little.

try it, its cheap healthy and def cant hurt. i was having pain in the ileum and i feel better now. maybe the aloe helped.

Very soothing drink. Does calm the stomach.

Dunno if it's any good past temporary relief, but it does the trick.

I think it's kind of like ginger. It has an immediate effect on what it touches but doesn't do anything special for the body as a whole. Aloe will certainly sooth your stomach the same way ginger numbs it but it's not going to do anything great for over all health.

I can testify...

I have been taking Aloe Vera in liquid form for 3 years and it has worked wonders for me. I use it in conjunction with other supplements and a special diet, but I swear by the stuff. It even helped clear up my eczema. I would highly recommend you give it a try, but get a good quality liquid. Whole Foods carries several.

kimberlie some of the aloe stuff with herbs can be pricey but basic aloe vera juice should only be about $6-8 for a large bottle. I have been lagging in taking it though, I should get back to it, its really helpful.

I noticed some discomfort(okay, lots of stinky gas..lol) with the gel.
I found a pill that the aloe is stabilized and it's a bit pricey but I don't get the stinkies and it helps with the
CD:)

ladyB I didn't have that problem with the gel, maybe try the juice form, its like water just tastes different.

Not sure why your gas would be different if the substance is the same. Maybe there isn't as much quantity in the pill?
