Anyone Heard of a Rectal Pimple?

Just wondering, I am not diagnosed with Crohn's or IBD, but recently had an EUA to remove a small nodule in my rectum. It had produced a polyp, which was removed during colonoscopy a few weeks back, which by the way was benign inflammatory according to biopsy. Other than that one spot, my colonoscopy was normal.

My CRS told me the underlying nodule was still there and draining pus however, and should be removed. So I took his advice. The procedure seems to have gone really well. He said there was no fistula (YAY) & did not mention any abscess. He said the nodule was slightly larger than a pimple on the face, and he said that is the only way he could describe it, as a pimple, but in the rectum. He said it was somewhat unusual & uncommon. He said he removed it & put a small stitch in. He said he thinks he got it all, and now just waiting on the culture results & my 4-week follow-up to see how I've healed.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of a rectal pimple as he described it. I went into my EUA expecting the worst, due to the pus drainage, I was sure he would find a fistula or abscess or something. But I guess I count myself lucky if all he found was a pimple! Not sure how it got there, or why, maybe it is from when I used to have anal sex. I have since stopped that completely, because I wanted to heal my body up down there. I recently tested positive for low-grade HPV after an anal pap, but my CRS did not think the nodule in my rectum was related to that, although another one thought it was possible.

So I'm now just resting up, waiting for my follow-up and hoping that pesky little spot is gone for good now and I can get back to normal! Thanks for any responses!

Anal sex should not cause a pimple unless it was an std. You said you haven't had anal sex in a while so that us unlikely. HPV can cause genital warts but this area should not be affected.

Genital warts can show up anywhere there has been contact with the virus.

Fingers crossed that you won't have recurrence of this lesion and that everything is good going forward!
