Hi.
In the past I've gotten used to having flares an seeing some blood clots during my period. But, this period has mostly been blood clots along with the flaring. I was wondering if any of you have seen this too? If so, I'm wondering if this might be just part of our fun as Crohnies. Thanks in advance for any input or ideas. Hope this finds you all doing well today. Lisa

Hey Lisa...are you talking about clots associated with menstruation vs rectal bleeding? If so, yes, I have noticed that I get more clots than I used to - but, I also find that if I use tampons intermittently during I will see more - not sure if it is because they absorb more liqiud? Gross, I know.....but where else can we talk about this stuff?

I guess, that's why we're ladies right? And yes, I was talking more of menstruation. I've always used pads though. Am getting both rectal & our bleeding at the same time though. So much fun :voodoo:

I'm not diagnosed with crohns but I am having heavy bleeding with large blood clots. Lots of pelvic pain and am very pale. A "mushy" uterus - one where the uterine lining is growing into the uterus I believe, can cause heavy bleeding as well as clots. Since my GI issues started flaring a while ago, I have had vaginal lip tags which turned out to be polyps, very, very, very heavy bleeding. It would run down my leg and no pad & tampon combination could stop it. I was supposed to have surgery to remove the uterus and attempt to leave at least one ovary but a severe concussion has put that on hold for now. My other inflammatory issues in other parts of my body are also acting up. Just keep an eye on your iron and feriton (sp?) levels. Mine have been continually dropping. I'm having more blood draws later this morn when my home infusion nurse comes. Keep us posted on how you are faring. Blessings!

Thanks Naturelover:)

Since last posting, I have quit getting blood anally. Still get some strange periods (spotty bleeding, lots of cramps, etc), but not like this one. Will keep an eye on things though.

Hope all goes well your way.

Have you had any hormone blood test done or any vaginal ultrasounds done?

Hormones can affect your cycle. Hydration can affect the amount of bleeding. Thinking out loud again. I do that a lot. Ahhh, so many things affect so many other things......

Glad the anal bleeding has subsided.

Naturelover, I have not had any ultrasounds. But, will keep a watch. I'm switching insurances at the end of the month so will wait to question my new doctors. In the meantime, I'll keep a watch to see how often this happens. Thanks:)

I just thought my clots were associated with the PCOS and endometriosis.

I have suffered with very heavy periods and clotting for years.

In fact I was puton the BCP at 13 and I still use it now to control things at 38 and still go back to back for three months at a time.

I didnt know it was related to Crohns as well but then again I have only be diagnosed a few weeks ago.
