Hi my name is Molly I'm 19 years old and I am new to UC. I was just recently diagnosed for having an IBD and they are most certain it is UC however it won't be until after the 1st that I will actually be in to see my GI for any prescribed treatments or a certain diagnosis.

At this point I'm just looking for some support and any advice on relief, like maybe what helps for all you guys? Your fav safe recipes I could try? ANYTHING to help find a balance.

I have only been eating white rice, chicken, and bananas. I haven't been drinking anything other than water and chamomile tea.

I have severe stomach cramping that happens immediately after eating and periodically throughout the entire day, I have lower back pains on my worst days, constant diarrhea and I go about 8-10 times a day on average, I have had spotty red blood throughout my stool usually in the mid to later part of the day, and lately have been experiencing nausea and vomiting (especially after drinking a cup or 2 of water), and also on my worst days have extreme pain between the end of my tailbone and stool exit point.

When they measured the inflammation in my digestive tract/or colon I had a level of 52, if that means anything to you all.

Please give me anything to try I am option-less at the moment and am experiencing high stress levels (I also work 30hrs a week and am a full time student)

ALSO, what are your experiences with the following foods: lemon juice, soy sauce, hummus, pita bread.

Hummus should be good, pita bread should be ok, but it's really very personal. Some people have trouble with fruit juices, especially acidic ones like lemon. Not sure about soy sauce but I'd bet it could go either way. You should try them just to see if you can tolerate them, when you are feeling well enough to experiment. We have an exercise/diet forum where people talk a lot about what foods they can and can't tolerate. We even have a most/least tolerated food thread that combines data from our members.

I am sorry you are having so many symptoms and so much stress. I hope your visit with your GI and your treatment gets you back on track. Welcome to the forum.

I'd be careful with the lemon juice, but the pita and hummus should be fine.

I would recommend low acid apple juice that they give babies and watered down gatorade. With any new liquid I would recommend watering it down.

Is there anyway you could get in to see another specialist sooner - if this one is unavailable? With your stomach aches after eating, it would be much better if you could get in to see a doctor as soon as possible. Sometimes if your regular General Practitioner puts in a call to the specialist's office and requests an urgent appt. on your behalf, they will work you in.

Thank you for the replies!
Vonfunk: For liquids one part water to one part juice/gatorade should be just right?

And Kelly I guess because of the holidays most of the specialists in my area are hard to get appointments with, my regular doctor told me that he had to call and put in a special request no matter what to try and get me in before hand. But I'm going to call them again today and see if they can push anything through. Are my stomach pains after eating something I should be pretty concerned about? I'm just not sure what I should and shouldn't be worried about.
