How many have had appendicitis/had your appendix out after being diagnosed with Crohn's?

I've read that the risk of Crohn's increases with those who aren't diagnosed and/or have had their appendix out, so I was wondering about the reverse.

I was diagnosed with Crohn's last year in June, and had to have my appendix out this past Saturday. From how it looked, it seems to have been inflamed for awhile. I went to the ER positive I had a partial bowel obstruction, but instead it was my appendix, which was surprising.

Any input would be appreciated!

I had my appendix removed during surgery. It has provided peace of mind. Prior to the surgery I was always worried about appendicitis because I had bad pain in that area. Turns out the bad pain was just an inflamed appendix and other areas due to Crohn's but now I don't need to worry about emergency appendicitis anymore.

Got my appendix out during my surgery for crohns, guess they just felt like taking it out so i don't need to worry about it later

They removed mine during resection of the terminal ileum and caecum.... as the appendix is joined to the caecum it went with it! :D

I also had mine taken out when I had my first surgery for crohns. It gives a 100% sertain that in the future pain in that area is not caused by the apendix. I am quite sure its alwasy removed if bowel sugery is done just as a precaution.

Mine was removed during colectomy. It was extremely long, inflamed, and twisted up like a corkscrew. I had had pain in that area for about 30 years.

I had mine removed during my resection last year. I was diagnosed and had surgery 6 months later to remove a stricture. I had my terminal ileum and caecum removed so my appendix went too. In a way it's been a good thing because now I can go to the GP when in pain without them worrying I have appendicitis which has reduced a+e trips and also meant when I did need to go to the hospital I got the correct treatment much quicker.

I joined the forum because I have always wondered if having my appendix out at six was a precursor to my Crohns. I had stomach issues my whole life and my Crohns was misdiagnosed for years.

My grandmother had colon cancer back in the 50's and I always worry if that will be my fate. My Crohns is under control, but it is a worry.

Any thoughts?
