So i am seeing a dietician in week.

And she said to make a list of questions that i may have. So Can you all help me out .

What are some things you would ask, or have asked or would if you could????

I am concerned about my iron and eating iron rich foods, as well as getting enough vitamins, fruits and veggies.

Can anyone suggest some specific questions that should be answered?

I am going to make my own list, but want to make the most of my appt.

Are you interested in alternative diets at all, like SCD or a less dramatic low residue diet? I've found that taking this and that from SCD and maintaining a mostly low residue, no caffeine, low dairy diet has done a lot of good for me.

28 years ago, my dietician gave my parents a list of "no no" foods. It's probably the reason I still have a colon.

ok,
I have a few

1, Iron and Calcium are not supposed to be taken together, is that meant to say we shouldnt take the supplements together or to avoid foods that contain both Iron and Calcium...

Example, Cream of wheat has both Iron and Calcium in it, is that breaking the rule concerning Iron and Calcium if I eat the cream of wheat?

2. Iron and Vitamin E are deffinately not to be taken together because the Iron causes the vitamin E to Oxidise.

Some cereals like Special K for instance contain Iron and Vitamin E. Should we avoid this combo in cereals, or again is that rule meant for supplements only.

1. What vitamins, minerals, and nutrients should I have monitored and what levels should I ensure I stay above?

2. What foods can help me maintain the levels outlined in 1?

3. Are there foods I should specifically avoid?

4. Based upon my medications, should I avoid consuming any foods around the time I take those meds?

5. Should I avoid taking any supplements you recommend around the time I take my medications?

6. What is your opinion of enteral nutrition?

7. Are there any specific diets you recommend for someone with Crohn's Disease?

8. How can I avoid dehydration and maintain electrolyte levels?

If you use any of these questions, I'd be curious what answers they provide.

number 7 I like David,

While I was in the hospital I was given two sets of papers for nutrition,
both of them contradict each other.. one is a low fiber diet and the other was meant for post op care...

the SAME LADY gave both to me,

Ok i am making a list of questions. I have never seen a dietician before so dont know what to expect. She seemed really nice on the phone and said she was going to get me some general diet info about Crohns ready. So willl maybe hand her my list and then on my next appt she can have some answers for me.

Thanks for all your ideas on what to ask. Please if you have any more, i will add them to the list. I dont go for another week.
