Ok soo this is day 2 of feeling really.....strange. Last night after taking my meds my chest was hurting and my heart rate went up to 96 and I started throwing up. Now I've taken my nightly meds again and the feeling in my chest has returned with a pounding heart. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this?? And I've also noticed that my sense of taste isn't the same. Weird. Btw I'm on asacol, prednisone, and prilosec.

Also wondering if anyone on these meds experienced hair loss?? School is starting for me and I want to have my hair colored but I'm afraid of it falling out!!

Any help is great thankkks!!!

I have been on acacol for 3 years and been off and on with prednisone and have had no signs of hairloss. I am very keen when it comes to my hair and keeping it looking good so I would notice if anything was happening.

hi there - i'd be tempted to phone a pharmacist at the very least, to ask if any of those meds could be producing this effect on you. taking them together makes it difficult to pinpoint which one, if any, are causing the symptoms, but a pharmacist or doctor would probably have a good idea... and could advise you whether it's safe for you to continue or not.

Hey are you taking the pred at night? Most docs recommend taking it before 10 or 11 am because of its effects on sleeping. Pred can make you hyper, including a raise in heart rate.

To answer your other question, yes pred can cause hairloss. What I was told by one of my docs was that it takes the hair's natural rate of loss and causes all of the strands to be lost at once. I guess it puts them all on the same time frame so it makes you think you're losing a ton of hair, but your just loosing it at once. Poor nutritional absorption can also cause hairloss.

Hi: I'm on Day 3 of Pred and have noticed a bit of chest pain (but only briefly) and hyperactivity. My patient handout from the pharmacy says to let a doctor know (or, as Ding said, a pharmacist) about chest pain and increased heart rate.

Hope that this improves for you soon!
