Azathioprine and pregnancy

Hi,

I am new to this forum and look forward to meeting new people.
My husband and I really would like to try for a family early next year. However I'm on Azathioprine. We saw my consultan last Friday who advised im in remission now. And I have a few options to come off Azathioprine completely, go onto asacol or stay on Azathioprine. However I'm scared and I don't want to be on Azathioprine whilst pregnant. But worried there's the chance of a flare up happening?? Anyone can help me that would be great!

Really would love to be a medication free mum to be.....but scared of the results!

Hi Maria,

There are quite a few people here that have been on aza while being pregnant.

The healthier you are during your pregnancy, the better it is for the baby.
