Hi

I have been on Azathioprine (100mg a day) for almost a month now, all seems to be going well and i am actually feeling a little better and more like myslef again. I had my first blood tests done last week and I am just off the phone from my GP surgery and I am a little confused.....they said

"the results seem ok but you may wish to discuss with the gp"

So I have made an appointment but its not till the 29th of this month. I am a bit of a worryier so this is a long time to wait. I have an appointment with my GI on the 21st but will he have access to these results to be able to tell me about them??

Has anyone else had an answer like this? Do I need to worry? What do they check for in these blood tests etc? Very uneducated about this drug.

Many thanks, Faye x

They check for red and white blood levels, and liver function and kidney function. I wouldn't worry too much, if it was anything really bad the GP would have rung you himself. And you would have got an appointment quicker! I would ask your GP to forward your results to your GI (they usually do but just to make sure) and then you should be able to discuss it with them. But I'm guessing there's something fairly minor going off, eg anaemia.
