Hi All!
So i started on Azathioprine 50mg last wednesday and generally started to feel a little better as the days went on but Friday i actually fainted at my desk in work after getting extremely warm and clamy, my pulse shot up over 110 and my blood pressure was all over the place!. It then led on to vomiting in the early hours, i then woke up feeling pretty good and started to get on with my day by watching the football, around 5pm saturday then i fainted again after suddenly getting warm and clamy again and as you can imagine being 6ft 3 and falling face first to the ground has left me feeling pretty sore!

I'm just wondering has anyone else experienced anything of the same kind? and do you think it's just related to the drugs and thier side effects?

Rhys!

Hi Rhys,
I have had the fainting side effects after taking azathioprine 50mg daily , tenth day on. Had to stop it at 14days due to severe abdominal pain but the faintness continues.
GI said stop the drug and then tough it out !
Might be a good idea for you to check with your doctor and let him know what is happening.Bit dangerous for you to be falling all over the place.
Hope you soon will feel better.
Hugs
Trysha

Yes, but i put up with the nausea and planted myself down safely if i felt faint, but came off of it some months later. was a horrible time that did little to help the symptoms of Crohns

I have just come off Azathioprine and after week or so I am at last not feeling, sick faint and extremely tired and breathless. I am still on Prendisone and have got down to 5mg but I am in a lot of pain so I may have to increase it yet again. I am waiting for the op.

Thanks for all the replys guys! seems everyone is/has been in the same situation, yeah exactly the same at the moment i can't sit down without dropping off and sleeping for a few hours in the middle of the day! i've got my blood tests and things tomorrow so fingers crossed they come back fine and it's just side effects. Do you think it's worth consulting my doctor about these things or is it just what the drug does to you?

Rhys.

Hi Rhys
I was just about to post a thread with the same info as you. I have been on Aza for 10 days now and I was being sick all day yesterday at work, came home and it continued, also experiencing extreme fatigue and random hot flushes and dizziness.
Think I might call my doc and ask for his advice - should I stay on the drug or come off it? I too have blood tests in two days, so he might want me to remain on them for that.

Hi Beccamon! well I actually feel alot better now it seems it has passed and that it was just side effects of the Aza! my opinion to you would be keep taking them until you have your blood results and if there's anything abnormal your doc can then tell you what's best :) my bloods can back normal apart from my inflammatory markers where raised slighty! I hope this happens to you too and you have a speedy recovery! all the best! Rhys!
