Has anyone had experience of azathioprine inducing remission? I have been back on aza after a 4 month hiatus which put me in a flare, doctors told me to wait for 6+weeks for aza to start taking effect, in the meantime I have been on pred but it hasn't changed anything although now I am down to 30mg of pred a day I am having odd days where I have improvements in symptoms compared to the 5 weeks I was on 40mg daily so I guess this does prove the pred isn't doing anything and it might be aza that is helping. Could really do with going back into remission

I haven't but 6 weeks is a good timeframe for improvement starting. It could be up to 12 weeks. The fact that you are able to start tapering off pred is a good sign the aza could be working. I hope it continues to work for you!

I am only tapering off the pred because there isn't any point in taking it as it hasn't helped this time. I was in hospital on hydrocortisone which didn't improve my symptoms either. I'm hoping aza is what is triggering the slight response and it will continue to improve regardless of the pred taper
