Is there an advisor or head prof or someone at uni that you can explain the uncertain nature of your health needs at the moment and ask for a bit of flexibility? It sounds to me like you want to control your timing, which is completely understandable, but that there's too many open ends for the docs to give you that control. Is that about right?

I would be sure to explain this to your advisor and provide him or her with all the notes or slips from your docs they need. I know it's frustrating and you're so close to the end! Perhaps you can get the flexibility you need from your schedule at school so you can still allow the docs to do what's best for you otherwise? I know it stinks, but hang in there LMV!

OH LORDY nuffing's simple just one thing after the other I agree with sawdust go see your tutor and talk things through with them Am I to take it you've never been able to contact your surgical team or IBD nurse? does your hospital have a Patient Advice/ liason service?

I do have flexibility at uni. I can hand in things whenever I want to but there is still the final deadlines. If I want to graduate this year with my friends I have to sit the exams on the day and have all my marks submitted to the university by 15th June. Which means everything has to be marked and moderated by that date. If for whatever reason I can't do that then I can continue to submit work over the summer, and re-take exams in August. But then I won't graduate this July and will have to wait untill next year (July 2013).
So basically I'm annoyed because I have been taken off the surgical list. If they were to do the EUA in the next couple of weeks then that would be fine, but to have an appointment in the next couple of weeks for them to tell me I still need the EUA a couple of weeks after that... I will not be pleased!
I have tried contacting them but they have just been so unhelpful. I guess I just have to wait until 10th April and see what they say.

Worried

Hey everyone,
I went to the toilet this morning, and I had a little bit of pain. And then I was shocked to see a lot of blood. It was bright red and I could see it dripping out of me. I think I may have had a mini panic attack on the loo!
And now I feel sick. Not sure if that bit is psychological! lol
Could this be because where my abscess was has developed into a fistula? or could it be another crohn's thing?
I had a look in the mirror and everything looks normal on the outside.
I have my appointment with the surgeon next week.... guess I will just have to wait and see what he says. Feel really rubbish now :(

Try and calm down mrs I know it's hard but fresh red blood when you have perianal crohns is par for the course. I have had many episodes over the years. You may find the next time you go there is nothing, having said that get your doc to have a look and make sure there is no infection. Unfortunately wounds in the anal region in crohns patients can be very troublesome and hard to heal which is why surgeons have a very conservative approach towards them. If I can help in anyway give me a shout I know how dehabilitating and frustrating peri anal crohns can be. Ryan

Thanks,
I was just shocked because I have seen blood before, but never that much! Just not a very nice thing to see :(
And now it has been uncomfortable all morning. *sigh* I guess its just another one of those things.

Appointment tomorrow

I have my appointment with my surgeon tomorrow.
I'm kinda nervous. I just don't know what he is going to say/do. I'm guessing he will want to look at everything. I'm rly RLY hoping he just lets me go on my way. Because I seriously can't deal with any more hospital stuff in the next 7 weeks (thats all that is left of my degree!! )
After that I am free for them to do what they want to me! (to a certain extent!)

On Another unrelated note. I'm SO excited about tomorrow because I get to drive my car for the first time! I passed my test a year ago on Friday but I haven't been insured on the car until now! Mum is driving it to Bath and then I am driving it to the hospital! Wooop!

So... Very mixed emotions about tomorrow!!

Best of luck!! I remember when I went back to the surgeon for a follow up I thought for sure I would need extra surgery because it didn't look that good but surprisingly she said it looked awesome. Don't work yourself up, and maybe if you do need something extra you could wait until summer so you could finish school if its not too bad.

Let us know how you make out :)

All the very best wishes that you get something sorted out and enjoy your drive let us all know what's said and how your car feels write down your questions and concerns before you get there and make sure you get all the answers you want
will be thinking of you

Good luck for tomorrow hun.
Enjoy the drive and if they want to do more stuff tell em to wait, if they can!

Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Thanks everyone! I will let you know tomorrow! If they do say anything about further surgery my response will be 'Is it urgent?' Then hopefully it can be sorted out at a later date.

Omg, Frustrated

So I just called my Mum to plan tomorrow. What time she was guna come down, what we were going to do for the day etc. She said 'Oh a letter is here for you, do you want to open it tomorrow or shal I open it for you?' I told her to open it.

Its from the hospital cancelling my appointment tomorrow!! This ruins my whole day!! They have changed it to the 24th and I am supposed to do a presentation at uni that day :(
Mum says she will still pick me up and that we should call up to see if they will still see me. I don't think they will. We are considering turning up and pretending we didn't read the letter - we almost didn't!? Not sure if we can pull that one off though!
EUGH! I am sick to death with hospitals messing me around with my appointments! They don't send me letters, they send them to different addresses. They cancel my appointments on me - this is the second time I have been changed for this!

I don't understand why Bath hospital send my letters to Reading and Reading hospital send my letters to Bath!?!?!

Rant over.

Oh no!

I would just go anyway. Tell them you need to see the surgeon and you have received no letter.

Stick to your guns hunni. You need to be seen, if only for peace of mind, but you need to be seen tomorrow.
Tell them any other day they offer you is not convenient for you.

Good luck. Xxxxxxxxxxxxx

I would also say that I didn't receive any letter. When they ask to confirm your address say that's not the right one. That's not your fault.

I think I've given up on going tomorrow to be honest. They must have cancelled it for a reason they're not going to see me just because I turned up. I'm going to change it so it isn't on the 24th though, so I don't have to change my presentation. I want to do it on the same day as my friends.

Patience. It takes time to heal. One must be Zen like, accept the situation and be hopeful.

OK, now back to reality, it sucks.....but truly, you must have patience. Things will get better.

Good Luck
