Hi, my name is Georgette. I have had Crohn's for almost 18 years, undiagnosed for 5 years of that. Talking now about an ostomy with a surgeon.

I am currently experiencing severe back pain, just in the spine and lower back region. It always happens after a long sleep such as 7 hours or if I fall asleep on my back. I can't breath it feels like it is in the abdomen and my spine feels like I am in a vice grip. Saw my chiropractor yesterday it helped a little, but i barely slept through the night and this morning i had severe back spasms. I was in tears!

In the past I have been able to shake it. Tiger balm, a hot shower or just getting up an moving,(which is horrendous but I am firm believer in move it or lose it!)

This is not the case. I have missed two days of work. I am now out of PTO and have to return to work tomorrow no matter what. I am going to see a PCP in my doctors office. However, I was interested to hear how many of you have had this same aliment as it ties in with Crohn's disease. I am not constipated I have difficulty going recently (one month) and went back on the stool softner and fiber pills) but I feel ok now.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

Georgette

Have you seen any other physician for your back pain? There are lots of reasons for pain - disc damage, pinched nerves, nerve damage, damage to the vertebrae, some kidney damage can cause that as well. You need to get it looked at.

Hi Georgette and welcome.

I hope this gets sorted out quickly. I agree with Shamrock; this could be a number of different things.

Sending you my support.

thank you for your replies. The doctor I saw today was like you have back spasms and back pain is too generalized to diagnose. Gave me muscle relaxant with helped to sleep and ibuprofen which I am not a fan of taking. However, I will take it till I have a reaction. Doctor says if I don't feel better in a week time he would offer PT.

That's all I got. Slept for three hours though and woke up with no back pain. however now that I have been walking around. I have left sided pain.

I ll keep you posted. thank you for your replies.

I have back pain when I'm having a flare, which I'm having now. I had one dr tell me it was from Crohn's. Crohns is inflamation. A lot of times it cause inflammation all over your body. It does in my case.

Maybe I am just that good at managing my flares now. LOL. But I thank you for your message. I too thought it was the crohns. But both my PCP and Crohn's doctor said this is not likely. I don't believe them.

Back is getting better with fexiril and limited Ibuprofen. My right shoulder and arm are bothersome today but i am working through it. I did put on tiger balm this morning and that seemed to help.

Might need to take Ibuprofen before night is out.

I wish you the best of luck!

Georgette
