Hi everyone. I know I haven't been on here for a long time but yet again, I'm on another treatment regimen!

I had to leave my first year of college because my Crohn's made it impossible for me to live on campus. Ugh! I got a little bit better after I left. I started work again and was doing well! A few weeks ago I developed a major UTI and being the hard headed girl that I am, I downed bottles of cranberry juice and water and eventually, it went away!

I woke up one morning with a severe pain on my side. I went to work and eventually gave in and needed to go to the ER. I was admitted with a severe UTI and a kidney infection. The contrast catscan showed major inflammation-surprise!- My crohn's is flaring. AGAIN. :ybatty:

I may have forgotten to mention-I have no insurance...
After I got out of the hospital I went to MaineCare (through the department of Health and Human services of Maine) and they cannot cover me until I move into my apartment in a month! :frown:

So in the 10 years that I have had Crohn's, I have been through Prednisone, Pentasa, Prednisone again, Merceptapurine, Prednisone for the 3rd time and now-as soon as my doctor makes it so I can have healthcare, I will be on Remicade. For right now-I'm on 50 Mg prednisone (for the fourth time!) to keep myself sane!

Although in the mean time-I now permanently wear the purple ribbon for Crohn's :)

The tattoo is on my arm, right below my wrist :)
I would LOVE to feel better so I can move into my apartment and get back to school!

I am so glad you are back!!! Sorry you are flaring, but stress makes it worse too. I am not a fan of Tattoos but I like that one! Good for you!

Thank you! Although it stinks to have to be back here-I'm glad there is a place to go!
Can anyone help me to know some of the side effects of remicade?

Go on the Remicade thread it is long but many people go and post good stories. I am allergic to it. Glad you are back tho,we are always here!

Hi Missy-anne: So sorry you're going through such a tough time. I'm afraid I can't offer Remicade help, but am sure others will pipe up soon enough. However, I do want to send best wishes that you'll feel better soon and be able to get into your own place, back on track with your school and other plans, and get much needed insurance help. What are you studying?

Also, jealous that you're from Old Orchard Beach (did I get the OOB right?)! I worked at camps in Maine for two years (one was along the Saco; the other was in Denmark). Gorgeous area. I'm originally from the province not too many hours north of you... :)

Hi Kelly!
Thank you!
I am (was) a photography major! I can't wait until all this is solved and I can go back to doing it!

Yep-you got the OOB right! :D I've lived here for about 4-5 years!

Photography! Good for you. I can't wait to hear when you are back in school!

Thanks guys!

Another quick update:
My Gastro doctor thinks it will be beneficial for me to apply for Maine Disability. Which kind of stinks! They said I can still work but only part time and i'm not sure if I am going to be able to still go to school while I am on disability. This stinks when I have to tell people I am on disability and only 20 years old. Oh well-I guess we have to do what we have to do in order to feel better!
