Had my small bowel follow through today, and (!) everything looks healthy! However, I came home and slept four hours and felt as though I had been slipped a sedative. Did anyone experience intense drowsiness and fatigue with this procedure? My meds haven't done this to me and my schedule wasn't strenuous today by any means, so I'm thinking either it is a side effect of the barium directly or just that my bowels are working overtime working it through. Not sure - any insight?

Hmm, none of the links I checked said that barium itself would make you drowsy but that test in itself is really draining because it's not exactly... pleasant. I'm sure your body is in a recovery stage at the moment not to mention trying to get that stuff out. Constipation is a common side effect and that can make you tired. Hope you feel better soon! Sorry you had to go through it.

I was shattered afterwards and the day after the test. I wasn't sure what had caused it but had been up half the night before the test with the prep!! I'd also just started back at work so that probably didn't help either.
I do always seem to be tired after each test. I do think all the meds they give you have an impact on your body especially when they effect your gut!
