I don't even know where to start. Have cd in ic valve and ileum and gastro says mild. Been on pentasa about 6 months and helped for first month, but still helped slightly so started entocort 6 weeks ago. I get period every 3 weeks sometimes days earlier and i spot, but it flares my stomach. Is the entocort trying to help but my period messes it up. My period was supposed to be over 2 days ago and then 2 nights ago i got bad cramps and starting bleeding again which should of been only spotting, first time that happens to me. I think of hysterectomy but terrified. I am 49 and my mom had her p's into 50's. I am waiting for word to do a dand c with hysterscopy for thickened entometrium. Also have 2.5 simple cyst on ovary. I don't have gasto appt until aug 29 and seeing another gyno in aug becasue the one to do the procedures is moving away in aug. Please some advice. Should i see family dr. and get him to phone gastro dr and maybe change to pred instead of entocort.

Hi, I'm sorry you're having so many problems. I haven't had the same problems as you, but I do know how difficult it is to have multiple overlapping problems, with each specialist only interested in their area, making it very hard to get them to take into account your other medical conditions when they recommend treatment. What you really need is a doctor who keeps track of all your different conditions. Is your family doctor able to do this?

It sounds like you're saying the entocort helped with your Crohn's symptoms, but doesn't stop the stomach symptoms caused by your period? In that case, wouldn't it be best to see if your gynaecologist can help? Sorry if I've misunderstood, but it seems like you're saying that if you get the gynae. problems sorted out, the entocort would take care of the Crohn's symptoms.

yes i'm thinking that but not sure. I do have gyno appt on aug 1, so i will be asking him about this. thanks for reply

Hi, matty! I'm sorry to hear you're having troubles. :(

Are you taking birth control? If not, the hormones might help regulate your periods and ease up your symptoms. It might not hurt to try it until you make a decision on the hysterectomy.

You could talk to your GI about trying Prednisone instead, but if the issue is hormonal I don't know if it would help. However, your GI and/or GYN will know more about that. Have you taken Pred before?

yes i have taken a short courseof if, 50mg for 5 days andit helped some. No i'm not taking birth control but i do have a gyno appt on aug 1 and will bring it up. It will be 8th week of entocort on tue and still same symptoms that ease up sometimes. Its not severe or anything but i just want it all gone. Thanks for replying
