Kind of an odd question, but given the fact that I'm supposed to be closely monitoring my food and symptoms for the next couple of weeks, it seems that it would be easiest to do track using my iPhone. Any thoughts on an app that would be most effective for this? Anyone else done something like this?

I'm also happy to repost this in another category if this isn't the appropriate place.

Thank you!

I tried a food log app, but truthfully I think just using the phone's notepad (and you can dictate to Siri) works fairly well. Also consider using the camera - you can take photos of meals or (gross, but) BMs instead of just trying to tell the doctor what it looks like. Just don't drop that iPhone!

I use gi body guard, it's great and free :)
used others in the past gimonitor which was good for creating graphs of your symptoms...but it not free and I found it restrictive with food lists as all American products (not great for uk!)

Thanks CantRemember! I downloaded a free app called "iDo" which I like so far because it breaks down my notes by date - however, taking pictures of food (and whatever else hahaha) and being able to use Siri seems really valuable, and I didn't even think of it. I'll try both out and see what works!

Mia - Thanks for the Canadian GI Bodyguard app tip. Pretty comprehensive, I'm going to give it a try for a few weeks. I seem to be "adding" many of my own foods but then you can choose them next time, so that's not so bad.

I did that too, adding my own food is the best way, with others you can't really add things! Glad to help!!x

I know this isn't exactly what you mean but I use MediSafe to keep track of my medication.
It's been really useful for family and close friends too :)

In my opinion, the MediSafe app is a giant hunk of junk and the people behind it utilize unethical marketing practices. As such, I would never trust the app with my personal information.

I use GI monitor. I can track stress, BMs, pain levels, food, custom symptoms, meds and has a place to add questions to ask the doctor. There is also a support board but I do find them kind of cliquey. Works for me, and it's free :)

And you can even make a nice report to print out to give to your doctor

I use one called My Symptoms. Only one I've ever used. You can add your own foods, add symptoms, meds, stress, BM and the it comes up with a list either by based on how many times it's been a suspect and also by ratio. Think I paid £2.99 for it
