I had an upper endoscopy 2 days ago, on Friday, and I felt fine that day (probably because they put fentanyl in my IV!). Yesterday and today, though, I've had some sharp pains that come and go in the area of my stomach/duodenum, presumably these pains are coming from where my GI took biopsies. The pain is not there all the time, I can go a few hours without feeling it and then suddenly it'll come back sharply. It seems random too, I haven't noticed a correlation between eating and pain or anything like that.
I haven't had any other symptoms - no vomiting, no blood in stool, no fever nor dizziness, etc. I feel fine besides the pain. So I'm hoping that means I'm not perforated. I guess I'm just looking for advice on what you guys would do - it's a Sunday so I can't call my GI's office until tomorrow, so that means either wait it out or go to the ER. I don't feel like this is bad enough to go to the ER. How long would you guys wait it out with pain like this? I am hoping it'll just go away on its own. If it doesn't, I plan on calling my GI tomorrow.
I had a colonoscopy and an endoscopy 2 years ago and I don't remember biopsy site pain like this so that's why I'm slightly worried. How long do biopsy sites take to heal? I do have bad GERD now which I didn't have 2 years ago, so maybe the extra stomach acid is causing things to heal more slowly? Anybody have thoughts on this?
