Bleeding from Humira injection?

Normally I don't have any blood, or just a tiny dot from my Humira injections (I use a syringe, not pen).

Today and my 2-weeks ago injection, I've had more blood! Is this worrisome? 2 weeks ago I did a tummy injection, and tonight I did a leg injection. Am I doing something wrong? This time (10 minutes ago..) it even seemed to get a bruise right away. The week in between was normal.

I'm wondering if my Nurse Practitioner gave me bad instructions, or if my technique is just getting sloppy!

Hi there, I used to use the syringes when I was on Humira. I never had blood, but you could of hit a small translucent vein or a stretch mark. You could be injecting too hard. Maybe it would help to ice the area first. I did, so the sting wouldnt be so bad. Hopefully you will do better next time. How many shots have you done prior? :hang:

Tummygirl....

I have a couple of suggestions. 1) Always shoot for belly. 2) Prior to administering the shot, numb the area with ice. This will cause any blood vessels in the area to constrict, decreasing the chance of bleeding. It will also help with any pain from the shot. Note, there may be a time that you nick a small vein. No big deal. The needle is too short to hit an artery.
