blip?

Hi All. I'm worried. I've been feeling loads better over the past 2 months.

(to recap: 100mg azathioprine daily, 900mg budesonide, 6 x pentasa - reduced from 9, 3 X mebeverine, calcium, blah blah...I'm sick of reciting that boring list).

Today I've got the familiar pain in my sides & I've been going to the loo far too often (horrendous urgency too....several close calls so far today). Is this a blip? Or could this be the beginning of the no quality of life again? I was so pleased that my body seemed to be responding to the aza (started taking it in Sept / Oct 09). I haven't eaten anything unusual (haven't deviated from my dull diet). What do you think? My stomach is making lots of loud noise too (was with a client at work this morning & she kept raising her eyebrows at my very vocal abdomen!)

Did you tell her your gut says "hi"? ;)

I get this from time to time. I think sometimes it may just be a stomach bug that I have caught from somewhere. I almost always wait 3 days before I start worrying because most of the time it clears up. I think it takes us a little longer to recover from a stomach bug than most people IMO. Hopefully that is all it is.

Violet, I hope it is a blip......I always try to be optimistic. It could just be something you ate or a bug that has got your stomach going again.....That is what stinks about this disease, you never really know if it is the Crohn's or something else.

I go through times when my stomach does this too. A few days of blah, then a few days of good. I think we just have ultra sensitive systems......My GI always said to call if I feel like I am getting sicker......Good luck, and I hope it is just a fluke.

It might just be a bug like the other posters said. I catch just about everything because my immune system is compromised because of the meds I am on. I’m sure that other Crohnies deal with this too. Whenever I am sick, people ask me, “is this Crohn’s sick or regular sick?” Sometimes it is hard to tell the difference between Crohns and food poisoning or a flu. Hang in there. I hope you feel better soon.

Thanks you two. Hope it's just a freaky day. I'm feeling quite stressed so that won't help (had an argument of ENORMOUS proportions with my walking ego of a colleague on Friday & have been ruminating over the weekend. Not good!!)

Ugh! Mmm, yeah ..... not good. I can speak from very recent experience that this kind of stress can go right to your gut. For my friends and family (and acquaintances) - they are SOOOO lucky when they piss me off as I have learned that I HAVE to let go of it or it will make me sick!

Give it time Violet! Have you by chance got your period? It seems a lot of people have little flares at that time, and I am now beginning to think i am one of those after a rough night last night on period day! :(

Hope you get better soon.. it is very frustrating when you start to get sick because you are always wondering if its a bug you caught or the begining of a flare. Im pretty new to this disease so I tend to freak out straight away.. I did wait a few days before calling my GI this time tho as I didn't want to bother him but I was getting worse each day... mind you tonight I have started feeling heaps better.. go figure just when I have to see him tomorrow!! Its just sooo unpredictable.

Hi, nope, period not due Shaz (although that does tend to make things worse). I've been in a flare since September 08 but the last 2 months have been so much better. This thing is definately making itself known again.

Sorry to hear that it's rearing its ugly head again! :( Hopefully things can get under control for you quickly.
