I get up in the morning and my stomach is fairly normal, but withen 10 minutes of eating breakfast my belly balloons, as if I am slightly pregnant!

Is this one of the symptoms of crohns too? I got diagnosed last week and wondered whether this was part of it.

It happens no matter what I eat for breakfast...and my bloatedness stays until the next morning :(!

Abit of a pain!!!!!!

Oh, and I was also wondering does crohns affect pregnancy? Im not pregnant, but Im 25 and would like to start a family soon so just wondering what the process is - if any!

Thanks so much xx

Hi Queenlizard,

I seem to get this quite a lot to (I tend to wear a lot of tight fitting clothes so doesnt really hide the massive stomach very well either)!

I don't have any experience with pregnancy and Crohns but I have seen a lot of posts from ladies who seem to have had children without any difficulties.

I think there is a sub forum for pregnancy somewhere so it might be worth checking it out :) x

I have experienced the same you have been feeling, also fresh diagnosed.
From the knowledge I have (both family and in hospital) it is common for that to happen, although later on it does disappear.

Perhaps someone else with a bit more experience on the matter can enlighten you a further than a simple, "i see, it must be".

Ah, thanks Artificial!

I just hope there is a solution as I would love to go on the beach this year but Itll be hard with a massive bloated belly!

If I might add you might want to check the Diet SubForum. I already found out that milk causes my belly to bloat a lot more than tea.
So I've changed my breakfast to a cup of tea along with some french toasts with butter. So far I've felt better.

Thanks ekuskrash, I shall check it out now.

I didnt know that about milk, Lately Ive been having porridge for breakfast so I guess that hasnt helped!

Luckily I dont have milk in my tea - but one good thing, my boyfriend is lactose, so maybe we could save money and I could just drink lactose milk :)

Try a low or even no-fiber diet and no dairy for a bit while they get your gut under control. I have bloating no matter what but sticking to the above can help a lot! You will find that each person is so different it will take some trial and error to see what trick works for you...hang in there!

What was your diagnosis? What meds did they put you on? Sometines that can have to do with the bloating as well as other side effects.

Welcome to the club :D

I only got diasgnosed on Thursday, so collecting my tablets tomorrow before work.

I will be taking mesaline? and ascol? Sorry not sure on the spelling as this is from memory!!

The hospital didnt tell me anything about foods to avoid or be careful off. Didnt mention foods at all, which surprised me!

They haven't for me either ^ ^"
But since I found out the Forum I've been looking for it. That's the greatness of this forum. Some stuff we are not sure how to ask to our doctors or they don't mention at all. And, even though all decisions should be done with the awareness of the doctor, looking for a diet that favours your well being isn't that much of a problem, being that later on you inform your doctor about it, as to get her/his opinion.

Mesalazine is the one I'm using also (started yesterday).

:) Just read the forum and any question you have ask, most of the people around here already understand this problem as well as doctors xDD (exaggerating of course).
