I went through something similar with an abscess. I was unable to sit for over a month. Then after the surgery I was sent to a rehab hospital. The worst part for me was missing my cats, and boredom. There wasn't enough to do, and I worried too much about money and stuff.

I miss my dog terribly when I'm in hospital. Last year I was in five weeks, then home for a couple and then back in for another month and I was missing her. The boredom and physical inactivity drive me insane, but I'm gradually finding ways to cope. Physiotherapists helped me so much during my last stay. I actually don't worry about much when I'm in hospital. I'm either just trying to get to a point where the physical pain is bearable, or on getting a good night's sleep, or I'm concentrating on getting home and thinking about my test results and other markers of my progress and all the simple things I want to do when I get home. So even though I have a lot of time for thinking, I kind of focus so much on the present situation I set all worries of the outside world aside.
