if its not one thing its another.
DS has had blisters on his big toes sometimes one sometimes both feet since he was about 2. One large one formes with several small ones under the skin:facepalm: I have pretty much ignored it. too many bigger issues to worry about.
Within the past year he has started to form blood blisters on the left big toes over and over again.
The blister has one large one when broken it bleeds and then 3-4 tiny tiny ones think splinter size underneath. I know gross.
they are painful but can't be a shoe issue since he has changed shoes a number of times and the skin is very thick above the blister. . when it breaks then it crusts and gets itchy.

I finally took a picture last night and sent to the rheumo.
We have an appt on the 21st so I will see then.
At least it is not something new with remicade but given his vasculitis I thought I should probably track it a little better.:ybatty:

in not so good news- we have had blood wed, REmicade thursday ( no bm) friday-blood, sat/sun - no bm, today - blood.
Granted all these times DS "saw" the blood not me. so not sure how much:yrolleyes:

:medal1: Rheumo just called at 9:00 at night.

WE are to monitor. determine if they are getting worse or more frequent and update.
Of course photo and email if things get a lot worse.

Jeez and I thought IBD was just GI issues.:shifty:

Ugghh! So sorry the poor kid is still dealing with symptoms!!! :ymad: You both certainly deserve a break from ALL of it and he just needs to get feeling well and into that dream world!! :)

Sending lots of wishes that the blisters do not become something you need to 'worry' about! and that you'll start to see lessening of all his symptoms!! :ghug:

Hey mlp...

Sorry if I am out of step, I'm trying to catch up and starting from the bottom up!

How are things going with your boy?

Thinking about you,
Dusty. xxx

Sorry he is still having symptoms! I hope they get all of it sorted out soon! It is crazy all the things we stay on the look out for, it is like "leave no stone unturned" I truly hope all improves real soon!

Their back....
Wish they weren't
DS has been getting them for the past two weeks.
I need to call Rheumo again as well as have him see dermo
I think its Dyshidrotic eczema .

Any body else have this with crohn's ?

My son frequently has inflammed and swollen tissue around the nails of his big toes-like if he had ingrown nails. But no blood blisters. I too, have been ignoring it pretty much. Now I wonder if it might be part of a bigger issue... Hope you get some answers for your son!

That was Grace's toes a month of so ago. Her Rheumatologist said that JIA comes with many types of skin manifestations. He said it's when it doesn't respond or quits responding to treatment that further investigation needs to be considered.
I don't know if you remember but Lupus has been brought up a few times but nothing has been "proven".

Is he able to walk?

Yup M's rheumatologist says the same - especially kids on Anti-TNFs have lupus-like rashes sometimes (doesn't usually develop into drug induced Lupus). I hope it's nothing:ghug:

Did they just disappear last time? Did his doctor have any comment about them in the past?

:ghug:

Tess
Last time he was having multiple skin reactions to remicade ( we just didn't know that at the time - including skin peeling scalp issues etc...- it went in waves until we stopped remicade last April /may timeframe when remicade went out of his system .
Dermo declared it was drug induced at the time.

The skin by his earlobe where it meets the face is also breaking down .
Never a dull moment .

Oh mlp.....it's always something, isn't it?????? Sigh......

I'm sure you are tracking tracking tracking watching waiting watching waiting. :ybatty:

Idk about the toes????

Hugs,

J.

At this point - just trying to stay ahead of infection- he got cellulitis from a minor skin break before so - I have the poor kid in a lot of rx strength antibiotic cream /bandaids due to normal boy scrapes without this extra stuff.

uggh, I'm sorry you have this new worry. :(

I hope you can get quick apptmts with rheumo and derma and get an answer on what could be causing them. :ghug:

Dermo was able to squeeze us in next week-
Rheumo week after that unless it get worse then he can be seen sooner .

Neither -
It looks like Dyshidrotic ezcema on both toes tapioca blisters - only. His fill with blood same shade as if you had a cut -...occasionally as well
The area around it is not red or inflamed

Waiting to see dermo
Assuming the weird ezcema until then

One form of acute hand eczema is dyshidrotic hand eczema, which is also called pompholyx (Figures 8 and 9). This type of eczema is more common in women and individuals under stress. Acute dermatitis presents as a sudden outbreak of intensely itchy small blisters called vesicles (fluid-filled sacks <1 cm), although frank bullae (fluid-filled blisters >1 cm) may form. Secondary infection may lead to pustular or hemorrhagic fluid or crusts associated with the blistering. There may be surrounding erythema of the hands with associated pain rather than the more characteristic itch associated with the acute blisters. The eruption is symmetric and pruritic. This disorder often involves the feet, as well. The blisters may be arranged in oval clusters involving the palms but often extending around the sides onto the dorsal surface. More than 50% of individuals with the pompholyx type of presentation had an atopic diathesis. The lesion appears abruptly and generally persists for 2 to 3 weeks. Hands solely are involved in 80% of patients. Hyperhidrosis (increased sweating) is an exacerbating factor, and the diagnosis is mainly the clinical appearance and presentations. - See more at: http://www.nursingcenter.com/lnc/cearticle?tid=1407503#sthash.R4CeM8Ik.dpuf

So secondary infection can cause the blood ...
Makes sense
Just need dermo to. Verify

Yes. Sometimes i get in between my tows.

if i remember correctly i got it 3-5 months before i started getting Crohn's symptoms (in the Sommer). at first it appeared and felt like three mosquito bites, next to each other. soon i realised it must be some other bug bite because it was a burning itchyness, not a hot itcheness. since then i often get blisters or dry skin in those places.

Have you considered Pyoderma Gangrenosum? It is a blood filled blister. Just something to think about. The last time I had some they were small blisters that were very red.

And the winner is.....
Dyshidrotic eczema

Per the dermo
New creams stronger steriods etc...
He will probably outgrow it by the age of 14.
It is not related to Ibd or vascular disease
Doing a little dance

:)Well thank God it's better then you thought but still a bummer to deal with.
Tell him there's a five year old in MI that sympathizes.
