I have just been to see my consultant this morning and I am starting on Azathioprine next week.

My CRP was 65 and my Platelets were 636. I am finding various contradicting normals for these online. Does anyone know the actual normals? I am in the UK if it makes any difference?

I think you will find the contradictions are a variation from pathology company to pathology company and country to country.

I don't know that there is an "actual normal" but within the UK, for example, the various labs shouldn't differ that widely and I think you would find that for many of the tests they are the same.

There are three different labs where I live and over time I just had a tendency to settle on one lab so I had a better feel as to what was happening with my children's bloods. If I strayed to a different lab I took it at face value and was happy if their results feel within the labs normal reference range.

What I was primarily concerned with at the time was CRP and this was one test that the labs ranges did differ but we are only talking about one lab being <10 as normal and another being <12 when my son's CRP had been hovering anywhere from 150-360. It was of no consequence as far as I was concerned.

Dusty. :)

Crp normal range is usually 0-7 but does vary in labs and if I remember 300-400 platelets is about normal. Your platelets are probably elevated because your crp is indicating inflammation this usually happens to me when my crp is raised. Hope this helps a bit x
