In the Mesren information leaflet it says if you develop a sore throat while taking Mesren let your doctor know as you may need a blood test? Does anyone know why?

Thanks

Mesren is also known as Mesalazine which has a ton of more popular formulations such as Pentasa, Asacol, Lialda, and others. There is a small risk of kidney, blood, and liver problems associated with Mesalazine so they want patients to report symptoms such as bruising, sore throat, unexplained bleeding, red/purple spots on the skin, and fever so that some routine blood tests can be taken to rule out any pressing issues. The sore throat would likely be related to potential blood issues.

Hope that helps :)
