hi there! so, newy diagnosed, well they say 99% bsure of crohns in small bowel only. They cant say for sure because the ilium valve is closed over like a pen nib! started 30 mgs of pre in aug., now have tapered to 10 mgs. my last bloodwork was done pre- prednisone startage. had bw done on oct 6 along with a bloodtest for an enzyme test to see if im compatitable to take imuran. they tolkd me it would take about 3 weeks, back on oct 6th. so ive been caling and calling. finally the secretary pulls my chart. she tells me she sees all my regular blood results but nothing for the enzyme test. i remember a ton of boxes being checked off on the blood req, i saw white blood, hemoglobin, glucoses, alts, bilirubin, then in handwriting there was esr, and 2 other similar sounding handwritten things. so, i aksed the secretary if since tghey have been fiked away if that meant all my bloodwork was fine?! her response was "well, he has signed them and they were filed" so i asked again, so they were all normal then? her response "i see some high and lows but they are only off a bit" i said "whats the procedure if theres a problem" she says ":he would have asked me to pull your chart and he didnt, they went to filing". that worries me, what do highs and lows mean? and for what tests??? i know on aug 10th my bw was all perfect. does prednisone alter yiur bkliod work? does it have an effect on it? if so what tests woukd it effect and how? what does crohns disease blood work look like and why woukd mine have been perefct up until now?? i have ,y appointment thus THursday and will ask all this, but this whoke sceneriio is making me really stressed. im worried about what is wrong and also where this enzyme test result is. i have no idea what the plan would be if i cant take Imuran. the whoke thing is stressing me out :(((( any insight anyone? i wish tmo was Thursday.

Hello blessedwith four,

As you have an appointment on Thursday, there is probably not too much you can do in the meantime.

You should really do your best to not worry about this uncertainty right now. Worrying will not help you in any way and the added stress will just negatively impact your health and emotional and physical well being.

I know it is not easy, but you have to just let yourself know that Thursday will result in answers and until then you have to get on with everything else in your life. Worrying or not worrying will not impact the outcome with your doctor.

The only thing that I can think of that may be helpful is to channel all your worry into a notebook by making a list of questions you want to ask the doctor. This way you will make sure you get the most out of the doctor appointment and will remember everything you have been worrying about leading up to the appointment.

Good luck and let us know how it goes!
