yup and yup

80 year old bones in a 33 year old man... woohoooooooo.

keep drinking that calcium!

i remember i had a bone age test a few years ago , where they take ur hand and tell you ur bone age. Is the test done the same way?

mine was bone density test.
the age thing was when they compared my bone density to everyone elses they scanned, mine were similar to most 80 year olds.

it was a CT/X-ray of my hips and ancles.

Pen I remember reading someone responding to you that too little calcium can also cause kidney stones, and my mom has told me that as well. There is such a thing as too much, but with a lack of dairy, it's unlikely you'll achieve it. You just need to be careful to find that middle ground.

i haven't had one, but i would be very interested in seeing the results! i have the feeling my bones are a lot "older" than i am.

yep i've had two bone density scans, and am due another shortly.

my results were given to me in clinic a few weeks later.

I had a DEXA (bone density) scan a few weeks ago, and got the results just a few days later. It was normal, though they didn't say how old my bones looked - that would be interesting to know. I was a little surprised by the result givens that there is osteoporosis in my famliy and I have been on pred most of the last year.

I had the bone density test done a few months ago. The machine printed out the results within a few minutes of having the test.

I turns out I had lost a fair amount of bone density. However, they weren't sure if it was from being on prednisone or malnutrition. I'm taking calcium and vitamin D now for it.

Yes deficient amounts of calcium actually can cause you to have more stones. Also teas, colas, and coffee can increase kidney stones - though coffee from that least is the least likely out of them.

I am sorry if this a little off topic but I am going to have a hysterectomy in a few month and am trying to decide to have the overies taken out as well. My GI does not want me to due to Bone Density but my GYN does. What would you suggest and why? I jsut assume have them taken out but am not 100% clear on how that woudl effect the density later in life.
