Havent been on in a while as thankfully i've been keeping fairly ok :)
So just a short and sweet post to ask a quick and probably silly question !!
Had a meeting with my colorectal surgeon on friday for a check up to see how my peri-anal disease is behaving ,
anywhoo he wants me to come in for another EUA and botox procedure to hopefully treat a chronic and extremly painful fissure :(
so was really hoping to hear from anyone has had it done and been ok after ,as usual i'm a nervous wreck !!!
silly i know for a small procedure but hey thats me a worry wart lol
big hugs to u all
Amy

Hi Amy
I first had it done ten years ago. It helped with spasms, but ultimately Infliximab actually healed the fissure in the end.
It does mean your sphincter is relaxed. I remember chatting with a work colleague - and randomly farting mid conversation. I can laugh about it now - but back then - I was mortified. I quickly ended the conversation and ran away and hid in my office - leaving her in an unexpected stink cloud.
The second time I had the Botox treatment was about a month ago. Unfortunately it was too late and the next day I had a stoma put in. From memory - I had two post surgery poops - and it certainly helped relieve the traumatic pain from them (as well as the morphine of course!)
Now I have mucus poops every day.

I did the botox for my fissure and it worked great for 4 months then it stopped working and tore open again. I would do it though, procedure itself is no big deal. I would get some nifedipine to start using at the 3-4 month mark after the botox just in case.
