Hey everyone!
I am 10 days post op after having a panproctocolectomy. My bottom end was sewn up. I'm still on painkillers and having some leaking from the wound, but nothing a pad can't cope with.
Today there was a little bit of bleeding, nothing awful but a few drops and it was bright red.
Is this slight bleeding normal?
I have no infection it's just the blood that worries me.

I'm staying off of my bottom, lying on my side etc and just showering like normal, not doing anything with the actual wound itself.

I know it's still super early days but I'm not sure at all what to expect and would really appreciate any advice.
Thanks so much!

Gabi

Hi Gabi
Having recently had the same surgery ( 12th July) ill be looking out for what help/advice others may be able to give.
i'm still having leakage , but unlike you I have only had small spotting of blood. I saw my surgeon 6 weeks after OP and he said not to worry about the leakage, but if it hasn't cleared up within the next 6 weeks he will investigate further.
Having said this I agree with ronroush7 and best to ask the Doctor

Thanks so much for replying. I don't think I was as clear but yes like you the blood was very little, one or two drops and has now stopped. I think perhaps i pulled a stitch slightly.

Will keep an eye on it and will contact Dr if worsens. I guess after only 10 days it's not surprising to still have some leaking!

Thanks again,
G

Hi
hows the healing ? Hope you are doing good.
Im still having leakage? so I was sent for an MRI , the surgeon said if I have a collection of fluid they may need to drain it? if not then its just part of the healing process.
