Does anyone have bowel thickening ?
My last CT scan showed bowel tickenimg in the descending colon I think it was now I have pain from it all day after breakfast and at night.
I was wondering what treatment you received for it my GI isn't very proactive in my treatment and waiting to go see a new one but for now has anyone got any suggestion what I can ask of him. Till i get to the new one.

This is something I experienced due to repeated inflammation with crohns and diverticular
Disease.
Nothing much worked to reduce the attacks and it just got worse.
Last year the sigmoid colon was removed and now it is a blessed relief from most symptoms.
Hope you will soon get your new consult and feel better

I've got thickening in my small bowel and suffer with daily pain too. I'm newly diagnosed and have been on budenoside (entocort) 9mg for 4 weeks. The daily pain has eased slightly, I'm still struggling to do much though but do manage to get dressed more days than not now.

Do you also get days of crippling intense pain on top of the awful daily pain?

Wish I could give help to ease it for you but I'm a bit too new to it all. My only thing that helps at all is lying down as still as possible in a tight ball but that's not the most helpful advice to improve your quality of life.

If you find any relief then I'd love to hear about it. If I get any answers next month with my consultant then I'll let you know.

Yeah my current GI is useless I'm so upset he predecessor retired he was brilliant.
See how I go with him this last time then will get a referral to the new one.

He didn't say anything just read the CT scan report went umm like he usually does.
When I saw him today he gave me some steroid that only works in the bowel and ordered another CT scan and said to come see him in 4 weeks I dunno he doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in me off to see the new guy I guess.

Sounds like he thinks it's inflammation of he prescribed entocort.

Hopefully, the entocort helps and you find relief. Good luck with the next GI I hope he is more informative.

Yes it's great that you're taking charge. Hopefully the new GI will be better to work with. Some questions you may consider asking at the appointment:

- Can you explain what thickening of the bowel is?
- What might it be caused by?
- What tests do I need?
- What are the treatment options you suggest?
- Do I need surgery?

Hope this helps and good luck!

I just had a similar thing constant inflamation had part of my colon out also have strictre between large intestine and small and fistula from large bowel to large bowel and an onstruction from the thickening had the large bowel cut in half and they left the other part yhere to hopefully heal and rejoin. How long were you sore for post op and was your colostomy site swollen for. Also what are you eating now and what did you eat post op. Sorry to be a pest but new to this.
