Im getting a breath test in like 4 hours. I should be asleep but Im in pain :( so Im awake and I cant sleep like a certain time before and haven't even drank anything since 8 tonight, now 4am. So Im here asking you have you done it? Does it help them help you with your crohn's? Is it a hard test?

I to am confused and unsure as to this breath test.

I wish to subscribe to your teachers edition.

Ya, that is pretty interesting. Though I don't see how it is very useful? Or is that just me?

I'm assuming this is different than the bacterial overgrowth test. I got that one done awhile back, it didn't show anything for me.

i immediately thought of the helicobacter pylori test..? that's the one they do to determine whether you have a particular bacteria which causes gastric ulcers.

Andy, hope it went ok.. let us know what it was cuz we're all confused here lol

i have a friend who is fructose intolerant. you breathe into a tube and a machine takes a reading. that's it! incredibly painless.

let us know how it goes!

If you're referring to the lactose breath test, then this is a very easy, although time consuming, test. You basically blow into a bag every 30 minutes for 2 -3 hours. Bring your iPod or a good book with you so you have something to do between the times that you have to go do the next breath.

There is a lactose breath test AND one for bacterial overgrowth!

They both run over a similar period of time.

I had the bacterial breath test done and it came up negative at the time. Never was tested for lactose even though they now think I am. Cant win.

If it is bacterial overgrowth then it could be the cause of all the diahorrea someone is suffering and MAY therefore not be crohns. They then need to look at why the overgrowth has happened etc and treat it.

Does that help?

Andy hope all went well - let us know when you do.
