So question???
BM with red/orange very bright coating for DS tonight.
Multiple pieces involved so not asacol - there was just too much to be from two pills a day.
Never seen anything like it.
The BM itself was formed and normal brown
Any ideas ??

Was it mucousy? Before dx C had 2 bms that were formed, Brown and covered in the bright orange mucousy like stuff, like flame orange out of the crayola box. It happened twice, a day or two apart and though I do remember explaining it to diagnosing GI, I don't remember his reply and wasn't savvy enough at the time think of my camera phone.

I've never seen it since, sorry Im of no more help.

Just sitting laughing since I was going to take pic
But you described it to a T
Red- orange crayola crayon-very bright -
Weird
There was some normal looking mucus
Just wish I knew if it was blood ???
Never a dull moment

Yeah, I know what you mean. C has been prepping since around lunch and we are getting liquid stagnant pond green color for last two hours, I keep thinking I'm going to look in the hat and see a lily pad or croacking frog! Never simple.

This reminds me that when Jaedyn was little I would breast feed her. It would go in white and she'd vomit it back up bright orange. I never did figure out why.

Rowan is having orange stools as well right now. Her transit and frequency has also picked up a bit. They are calling in an order of Flagyl bc it could be the onset of pouchitis.

Has she ate any red sauce? Tomato based sauces? I notice when Rowan eats spaghetti her stools are orange also. Granted she doesn't have a colon so we see a rainbow of colors frequently.

He sees the Gi in two weeks.
Stool is normal brown
Just the coating is red/orange
But so is the asacol shell
Going to wait and see if it happens again
Since he is fine otherwise and sees a whole slew of docs between now and Gi visit in two weeks .

When Rowan was on Asacol it never changed the color (or broke down) there was just always the presence of a broken shell. Ugh poop fishing stinks! Been there...

I can't wait for the day I don't have to stare into the toilet chopping apart poop to examine it. It's funny the intense amount of concentration I can put into this task when I think it might yield some answers about where things are headed.

I wish I had an answer for you.

Let us know if you figure it out. ((((Hugs))))

mlp,
I had this for months when I first became ill. I think that it is blood and mucous mixed together; however, I never did get an 'official' explanation for it. At the time I was not eating any foods that would have caused the discolouration.

When I started EN it stopped, and each time I relapsed it started again. I haven't had it again since achieving remission.

AWWW!!!!:heart:Welcome to my world of pooping the rainbow. :ybiggrin:It was like Christmas there for awhile.:medal1: I never knew which color Grace was going to pass.:ack:

Each time the GI didn't seem to concern. HUGS

Nothing to tonight :)
So probably just blood/mucus mix.
DS thought it look like the color of his halo guys .
I couldn't stop laughing .

A has had the exact same thing! Thought it looked like it could be undigested food at first but it happened several days in a row. Same red/orange coating on part of stool. I recorded it as "possible blood" in her symptom journal. That was my best guess.

Now, can someone tell me what bright green stool means? lol Like seriously looked like it may glow in the dark if I turned the lights out. She didn't have any blue/purple foods or even leafy greens recently. Those things will usually turn her stool dark green. But this bright green stuff.....weird......

Bright green? I think it was happy (forum member) that said blue food coloring in foods can do this. Grace had one and sure enoughs she had BRIGHT green color.

I know blue/purple foods can turn stool green. But she didn't have anything blue or purple. The brightness of the stool was rather freaky though, lol.

I know what you mean. :ybiggrin:When I saw Grace's I didn't know if I should freak out:ack: OR be impressed:medal1:????
