Budesonide

I just got off a 5 month treatment of Entocort/Budesonide and I had some pretty nasty side effects. Including increased hair growth and I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced it and if so if it went away when you stopped the medication and how long it took, because it's really upsetting and really dampening my self esteem.

:welcome: to the forum. With Entocort I never got side effects but everyone is different. It takes a few weeks for the drug to get out of your system all symptoms of hair or weight gain will go away too. :hang:

Hi there. Hopefully as less of the drug is in your system the side effects will decrease. I do think it's possible, though unlikely, for permanent changes to happen.

I'm sorry your self esteem has suffered. You should know that your health is more important than your appearance, and that your worth is determined by so much more! I hope those side effects go away for you soon and I'm glad to hear you are able to get off of the steroids.

Hi there, I have been on Budesonide and whilst I didn't have problems with hair growth I did get long purple stretch marks down my legs and arms so I was always wearing long sleeved tops and trousers. I ended up having to get the same cream pregnant women use on their bellies to try and make them less noticable. As an 18 year old at the time this did nothing for my self image so I know where your coming from. Most of the time these things do go away so try and stay positive and think how well you've done thay you have been able to come off it.

:thumright: Yey, this morning I ate my last Entocort for now! I started with 3 x 3 mg per day / 3 weeks, then 2 x 3 mg per day / 2 weeks and rest of the pills (100 pc jar) 1 x 3 mg per day. I didn't get any side effects from Entocort except sweating.

Now I'm done with it and will be eating "only" 150 mg azathioprine per day.
