My diarrhea is so painful these past few days. It feels like boiling acid is coming out of me. On top of that it feels like the liquid is scraping something on the way out which hurts and creates blood.

I don't know what to attribute this to, I might have an internal hemorrhoid but why the boiling diarrhea that is eating my anus away? Anything I can do?

I've had that off and on myself. I do try and chew some tums or rolaids to help with it. Oh, Jam, thank your for reminding me, I must call and get my Colestid script filled! (pill form of Questran)

I can try chewing some tums. I assume its acid I don't know for sure. Questran doesn't stop my diarrhea and I'm very strictured so it would be risky.

You may want to use a barrier cream like Calmaseptine to protect the skin down there as long as it is so acidy.

It didn't stop mine either, just formed it up a little and slowed it down as far as how many times a day. And I realized I was only taking half the dose, lol!

I have used every cream on the planet lol! I am going to try Tums but not sure if that will have an impact.

Oh, I've had that and absolutely hate that feeling. It's like boiling lava coming out, and when it happens a few times in a row, it gets incredibly painful. When I got into remission, that seemed to stop, and now I only experience that if I eat something that really doesn't agree with me. Tucks cream seems to help me the most (even without hemorrhoids, something like Tucks will help the anal swelling go down) and wet flushable wipes are a must-have too. At one point, my GI prescribed steroid suppositories, but those didn't help me much - your results may vary though, so it might be worth asking about. I think they were called Anucort. Honestly, psyllium fiber helped me a lot too, but with your strictures that doesn't sound wise. I hope you can figure out something to get you some relief. I really feel for you, feel better soon!

I used to have the painful acid diarrhea at one point. What got rid of that problem for me was eating less acidic foods. The main offenders were dairy foods, such as cheese and milk. Drinking a couple glasses of soda pop would cause the issue also.

I concur that beverages can play a large role in causing the boiling lava D. I would not dream of drinking OJ or soft drinks or coffee when flaring with D. Of course it can happen for other reasons as well, such as post-op which I recently dealt with. I need to have cold wet toilet paper on hand to wipe. And then after getting off the toilet I fold up some good toilet paper and get it wet under cold water and stick it between my cheeks. So I would keep it between my cheecks for several hours as a way to soothe the inflamed area. Sometimes I'll use several in a day when times are tough. It may seem bizarre, but hey, we do what we can to relieve our pain, right?

And as much as possible, take showers or baths and use soap to really clean off the bacteria from the rectal area as much as possible.

I'm glad to see the several mentions of boiling lava, since that's exactly how I feel when it happens to me. I thought I might be the only one. You often hear of folks having D, but you don't usually hear of it as being like boiling lava. Glad to know we're all in company and everyone has some ideas to share.

I didn't associate this with acidic food. I have had OJ, soda and coffee! I am going to have to see if there is a correlation.

I used an anti bacterial cream to prevent infection which had a sedative added to it and a barrier cream called pawpaw ointment. Ive been doing this for 8 months now .got up to 25 of this kind of BM a day. Not nice. No amount of food elimination maade a bit of difference. Good luck
