hi everyone. I had a ct scan on june 19 and still waiting results. Last night i had a burning stomach and also upper chest on right side. one month ago was getting more pain under ribs and in middle. Dr. said possibly uc mixed with ulcer of stomach.. I take nexium once daily. He added on sulcrate liquid to take 4x daily. I just been doing 2. I've never had burning like that before. Should i wait for scan results next week or go in. Last night when it happened i took some sulcrate and it went down 2 hours later. I;m scared it will come back tonight. I hate any new symptoms. also there is some pain on back shoulder blade

Sounds like gallbladder attack. I had almost identical symptoms and that's what it was in my case. Apparently not uncommon for people with crohns. I don't know the treatment be/c it only happened once for about 2 weeks off and on and that was it. Anyways itmay be worth asking your docs about that possibility.

Good Luck,

Kat

I agree with neko sounds like GB, I get similar attacks but generally more centralised pain but its due to duodenitis for which I take nexium as needed. An attack can be pretty painful and unrelenting usually in middle of the night and then suddenly it will become painfree again. An attack can last between 2-4 hours along with nausea and occ vomitting. Have you had an endoscope yet?

Back shoulder blade pain added in with your other symptoms definitely is classic for gallbladder attack. I would go back in or at least call your doctor and mention the shoulder blade pain at the time of your other symptoms.

Most common treatment for gallbladder issues is surgery to remove the gallbladder.

thanks for replies. I did a scope last april and there was some gastritis. I did a ct scan last tue with injected contrast. Will that show anything on gallbladder.

My gallstones showed up on CT scan with contrast. If you have stones, it should show up. You can have gallbladder issues even without gallstones and that does not always show up on CT scan, though it is still the preferred radiologic method of detection.

If nothing shows up on your CT scan that you just had, you may have to wait until you are having an attack for something to show up. Definitely talk to your doctor about all of your symptoms. You might keep a diary of when it happens, particularly in relation to when and what you have eaten before the pain and burning starts.
