My last two Calprotectin tests were sky high : went from 1200 to 900! I am currently having tests to see what is going on with me. I had a C.T. scan and then a Gastroscope last week. I was on Remicade infusions two years ago until I ended up in hospital with a lung infection, so ill. I decided against going back to that but have been well. I am currently on Prednisolone for another problem which my Consultant said may be helping the Crohns.
I now await a pill cam and of course the results of tests. I believe the Gastroscope showed some tummy infection, so I have to take antibiotics for this. Have been feeling sick.
My Consultant has mentioned trying Humira injections. I am afraid of side effects as I have suffered many from other meds in the past. Was on Methotrexate and had hair loss, nausea etc.
How do you find it?

I love Humira. With calprotectin numbers that high, you can't do nothing. I was never on methotrexate so I don't know how side effects compare, but with Humira at least the injections can be done at home so you minimize risk of infections from being in a hospital setting like with Remicade infusions. Hope you feel better soon!

Hi there and thank you. I am actually feeling fine. I gave myself Methotrexate injections and was not happy about it. After 4 months, it did not work. I suppose I need to wait test results and take it from there.

We have a lot of members who do great on Humira. When I took it my joint pain went away completely. If that doesn't work then there's Cimzia and Entyvio. Have you ever taken any immunosuppressants like 6MP or Imuran?

Keep us posted on the tests and how you're doing.

Ds has been on humira plus mtx for over a year
And humira overall for 2.5 years.
No real issues
He is 11 and started taking humira at age 9.

Helps with his arthritis

Good luck

Hi Jennifer,
Yes, I was on Azathioprine for two days! I suddenly developed Pancreatitis because of it. It took me weeks to recover from the pain. I have a problem with reactions to meds, my Consultant says I am super sensitive to the ingredients! So. I was put on Methotrexate injections which also had awful side effects, and did not work. However, I am feeling well just now and hope my test results are good. I have one more to go viz Pill Cam one. I hope you are well just now. Thank you for your reply.

Hi Jennifer, Thank you. I will have a look at that. However, here in the U.K. they seem to have a set formula for treatment. I feel we do not have the same choice when I read of other meds on the forum!
I hope and pray that my results show I can go on as I am . I am aware, however, that Crohns is a fickle illness and medication to keep the inflammation down is probably on the cards.
Best wishes.

Ds took 6-mp plus allopurinol since the 6-mp kept raising his liver numbers
He did this for 4-5 months
However every time his 6-mp dose was raised to reach therapuetic levels
His liver numbers would increase as well

Good luck
