I will keep this short so you know the facts. I am 36, mom to 4 kids and have had no health insurance since August.
I'm on no meds
Severe Flare
lost 26 pounds ( now wear a size 4 pants) look super skinny
Crazy Hemroids
GI bleeding off and on with bowel movements
Up 4-7 times a night with dashs to the bathroom and lots of times throughout the day.
Super Weak and tired
Very Anemic ( like scary numbers at this point)

So those are just the constant daily issues that I have been having since loosing my meds and insurance now I have a new symptoms
My calves and ankles and feet are swelling..
My hips and the large bone in my thighs hurt really bad.
Any one else have this.. and what the heck is going on with me?

Hey CCH

this doesn't sound good hun! Vomiting is a sure sign of narrowing or blockage
You're showing all other signs of a major flare up too, lots of inflammation going on there!
I know you have no insurance but you need to go to A&E asap.
When I was blocked I had the symptoms you've described, I ignored it for 6 days, I had an infection and was close to perforating.
Please get some help, you need some meds, think about the money later. This isn't going to go away on it's own, and left to it's own devices is asking for trouble.
let us know how you are.

You should really listen to Astra here. Money is one thing but your life is another matter.

You need to call 911 and get IV steroids and fluids or your going to go into shock then coma then well you know not good. Think of your 4 children and call 911 do what's right. They have to treat you.

I agree, get to the doctor! Pronto!!! With all of the symptoms you describe, plus the vomiting, it sounds very serious. My past flares involved a lot of what you mentioned, and when I started vomiting I knew it was time to go to the ER - you must be very dehydrated. Even if you have no insurance, prednisone is pretty cheap. What you're dealing with now can't go on, and pred will give you relief! Please, go get checked out as soon as you can! At this point, it's not going to get better on its own. Take good care of yourself, and let us know how things go...

The swelling in your legs and feet may be caused by extremely low protein. It makes it so your cells can not contain the fluids in them. Very scary stuff. Please go to the ER. They are right - they have to help you and you need help. This is not something that will go away on its own.

It seems you were on a very expensive treatment and you suddenly stopped it because of the lack of insurance.
Which meds have you been taking before?

I think that a bad treatment is better than having no treatment at all, especially if you are having bad times because of a flare.

I am not in the position of recommending something like this, but if I were in your position I would go for prednisone in the gray market or something I could afford, and then I would try to get some help or insurance somewhere.

I hope you get well soon.

Go to the ER Countrycoffee, there are some meds out there that are not crazy exspensive, I believe 6mp is cheap, predisione has been around forever there must be a generic,i do know doing nothing is bad medicine, keep us updated, worried about you.

I agree with every one else u need to go to the er I don't know how it works with no insurance etc as I'm in the uk but you really need to get sorted before something serious happens and makes u ten times worse and ten times more expensive !!

I'm hoping that you went on to the ER, country coffeehouse! And I know how it is to have no insurance and not want to beggar your family - I really, really do know and understand, hon, it's a suck-y thing and it tears you up inside ....BUT it sounds like the time for stoicism has ended: you NEED to get some help NOW!!!

Remember, they can't turn you away from the emergency room and you can settle up with the hospital for $40 a month (or whatever) afterwards. Please don't let yourself suffer any more damage.

I agree with the majority of the people on this post. PLEASE go get medical help ASAP. Money is just money -a series of intangible digits that aren't worth anything, really. You can pay 20 dollars a month for the rest of your life on a medical bills. They cannot refuse a payment no matter how small and you will not get charged interest.

But your life is your life. You are no good to your kids if you do not have your health.

I m very sorry to hear that news. I am curious why you don't have insurance (did you have to stop working?) I have had the same situation (getting really sick without health insurance) I was unable to work because of crohns. However I applied to DSHS and Social Security (I live in Washington by the way) I Revived DSHS first and then was approved for SS about 4 month later. I can help you though the process if you need. It can be very long and there are all kinds of things that help. (long story short I was denied twice for SS before i got on) I wish you the best!

CCH - Please pop in soon and let us know what's going on. I am worried for you and for your four little ones that are depending on you.

- Amy

PS I often have random swelling in my calves, ankles and feet. It comes and goes. But leg swelling can also be a sign of something more serious so best to get it checked out. Good luck.

the frequent urgency is from the body releasing lots of water into the colon to dilute the digestive acids that are inflaming the colon membrane wall. & also to move everything out sap- to minimize damage to the tissue. any peripheral swelling is just the same thing- many IBD patients have painful joints ect thinking they also have arthritis. it all stems from losing the mucosal lining that protects the intestinal wall- allowing your own stomach acids to "eat" away at the tender skin.Vomiting & nausea occur when the stomach recognizes that it is not able to effectively receive & process foods -it sends a signal -"don't send anything down here right now"-(nausea) & if you do - it sends it right back to you. eat a low fiber diet for now- roughage is just going to "irritate" the tissue further -exacerbating the symptoms.
I agree with that insanity quote - think outside the box- you just have to reverse what happened above.
