It's been almost 4 weeks since my surgery for my fistula and botox injections for the fissure. I thought it would finally be the end to all the pain I had been dealing with for years.

Though it is not near as painful as before, I'm still hurting after I have a BM. I usually only have a big BM maybe 2-3 times a week, and thats ehen it hurts. Ill pass little amounts in between with no problems. Im sorry if this is TMI.I am still getting the spasms and urgency like before. It hasn't been happening as much as before and not as bad, but it's still happening.

Is it still to soon to expect relief? Could the fistula( which I think was or is causing most of the pain) have come back this soon??

What else is there that they can do? I'm afraid that they won't be able to do nothing more and I'll just have to suffer with this for the rest of my life. My mom has read up and told me that if they fulled with the area to much, that it can lead to incontinence issues. Which obviously, I don't want. But I also don't
want to suffer with this either.

So I'm sitting here waiting for the spasming and urgency to go away. Trying to resist the urge to run to the bathroom, which strangely sometimes sitting on the toilet helps relieves the pain, but it only makes the spasming worse after staining again. Sometimes it takes hours for the pain to subside. Its 1:00 in the morning here, and i can't fall asleep with this. Praying the pain goes away soon so I can fall asleep. =(

Hey, Starlight. I've been watching for an update from you about the botox, since it seems to be a relatively uncommon treatment (at least in my new-to-Crohn's view). I'm so disappointed for you that it has not led to many improvements yet. No answers, but I'll pray, too, that the pain goes away for you.

*hugs to you*

Thanks Kelly.. I forgot to add that I go back for my recheck this coming Tuesday. So I guess I'll see then. The recheck was originally for 3 weeks, but because of my moms work( she is the one that drives me, I'd be so lost if I drove lol) we had to push it to 4 weeks.

Had my recheck today.

She says it's getting better, but not fully healed, so thats probably what's causing the pain. She said the next step would be physical therapy, but I told her I rather wait and give it more time to heal.

So I have to go back again in 4 weeks to recheck again. So we'll see. I really don't want the physical therapy. I have no idea what it involves, but I know since this is already in a sensitive and embarrassing area, I'm really not sure if I could handle it. My heart felt like it was going to pound out my chest while I was waiting for the doctor today, and this was just a quick exam. Much less physical therapy.

Even though there is still pain, its no where near as often, or as intense( except for that one night when I posted this topic) so I think I rather just tolerate it.

Hey starlight, just a thought but would an antispasmotic help with the spasm's? I am with you on the physical therapy , have not a clue what that would entail. Hope you get feeling better soon!

Hi Starlight: Wishing you well as you keep working on finding solutions for the pain and making decisions about how to proceed. Antispasmodics can help calm things down, which reduces pain. I was prescribed some yesterday and they have really helped (except when they wear off...sigh).
