Hey guys... some of you know but others don't... My Remicade is only lasting me 4 weeks and at this point in time I'm in agony... but not normal agony.

My stomach and intestines don't really hurt... its my butthole... yes my butthole. I've got the big D but its hard and VERY painful to pass. Anyone had this before?

I'm to the point where I'm not eating because I know itll be too painful too pass. I had a Nutrigrain bar yesterday and some pretzels (250 cals)... today I had a tiny bit of Chicken Noodle soup and then a thing of plain yogurt with m&m minis. (about 300 cals) I may eat another yogurt here in a couple minutes because the last one went down pretty easily. But needless to say, with classes and walking up the flights of stairs... I'm weak. I have had to DRAG myself to class this week... literally.

My doc is doubling the dosage of my Remicade and I'm taking it Sunday if my insurance approves (wish me luck?)

My question is has anyone had the painful butthole? If so, what do you do to help it... I've been keeping Vaseline and even Prep H on it... Prep H helps a bit. My mom suggested icing it right before a poo :) But I told her my ice cubes are too big to even think about that. Plus I don't really have control of my bowels enough to do that right now. I also took some tylenol to stop the throbbing feeling which helped a bit. Any other things I can do? I still have left over Vicodins from my oral surgery this summer, but I really hate taking pain killers.

Also... anything I can eat that's easy on the pooper? :)

I bleed when I strain :) But only a little because it comes out pinkish. Thanks for the luck guys... but you guys need it more than I. Good luck!

Is the pain burning, or is it more of an ouch that frikin hurts? Maybe it's a fissure? Laughing at mom - reminds me of mini's first date story with the butt stuck on the bumper. An ice cube stuck THERE? Eeek.
Well - I've said it 100 times, but I'll say it again. Calmoseptine is the #1 best butt cream I have ever used, and it's exactly for that - burning butthole. Used some today in fact! (Smiles like a proud 2 year old who just wrote her name on the wall with pooop.) Search for it here if you want a more detailed description.
When I had my fistula close to that same spot, the doc gave me lidocaine - it's a numbing cream. It didn't really help me too much, but maybe right before you poop it would be good for you.
As for food, I don't know if those ensure drinks are actually considered liquid or if it turns into solid too much, but maybe that? Canned chicken/rice soup always makes me feel better.
Sorry you feel like crap - hope the Remi move-up helps.

It feels like I'm sh*tting volcanic acid through a butthole that's been sliced with razors. And nothing will come out... but what does is volcanic acid.

Sorry for the visual :)

I'll check out the calmoseptine

Menthol = cooling and soothing. And it will heal you up over night. Seriously.
When I was flaring this summer and only had (God forbid) CAMPING toilet paper, I though I was pooping glass shards. I used some calmo and was fine in the morning.
Sometimes my grocery store carries it, sometimes they have to get it by the next day. Ask at the pharmacy department. Hope you can find it!

YAY!!! WHEN?!?? Did you actually GO? Wait - you didn't go between 9:03 and 9:16. GO NOW!!!! I want a full report in the morning. NOT kidding.

BAHA... I gotsta sleep woman! I guess max pain relief prep H will have to do for tonight. Hopefully I don't have to "go" soon... I dread it! But yes I'll think about stopping by tomorrow and getting it... I can hardly wipe anymore.

Cinnamon rolls sound soo good btw... random.

I have had that exact same feeling many times. Absolutely excruciating. I usually did what you are doing and trying not to eat anything. But a lot of good responses on better remedies.

Well went to Walgreens and they were fresh out, but they said they'll have it for me by tomorrow at 4... in the meantime I can't not eat anymore. It's not an option if I want to be able to carry on with classes and work tonight. So I ate about a fourth of a cup of broccoli cheese soup (has never tasted soo good) and three cheese on cheese crackers.

I went to my Criminalistics lab today and my prof came over as I was working on photographing evidence and he goes "are you doin okay?"... I didn't lie to him... he then told me I could leave if I needed to and to take my time on turning in my lab report. He's so nice. I have to leave for work in 1.5 hours... luckily its a short shift (5:30-9:15). Butt still hurts... but I got some wipes which are very niiiice.

I know exactly how you feel i have had that a few times, usually mine is about the same when its coming up on my remicade time. I get mine every 8 weeks and i think the dosage is at 7.5. But i know how you feel I am in the same boat as you, i don't know what to do to make it feel any better. But there is something that they have around here called Boudreaux's Butt Paste. I hear its a miracle stuff. mostly for diaper rash but might help... just a thought you can find it at www.buttpaste.com

:( hope your discomfort goes soon, Katiesue. i don't know if this would help at all, but when i and my kids got chicken pox, and the sores were really SORE in that area, i poured bicarb of soda in the bathwater and swished it around the relevant parts.. it really did take the sting away. might be worth a try.

Thank you for your guys' concern! I found out today that since its the beginning of the month, papers have to be mailed out for confirmation from the insurance company... so there's a good chance I won't get my infusion this Sunday. Oh I hope I can... I need my fix :)

all sorts of catching up to do now (nevermind)...I have the exact problem off and on, not just the pain but the "constipated diarrhea" too. Sadly, it goes away and comes back randomly. I've never figured it out, and my GI's (haven't asked the new one on this one yet) have been stumped. I don't know if it's controllable by diet, but maybe dehydration can do it. It's hard to address because if you think about it, you can't "bind" things, or it'll be even harder to pass, but softening things won't work, it's still basically diarrhea and evacuates urgently. I will tell you each time it happened hemmies were present, so I put on Prep H, and after a few days, it calmed down. I also took painkillers, though too...have you ever had urgency issues? I believe rectal Crohns to be a suspect...

Okay - here's one more tip for sore fannies everywhere!
When you give birth in the hospital, they give you a water squirty bottle for after you pee. TRUST me when I say you do not want to be wiping that area after you push a watermelon out of it! Well - the bottle works well for poops as well as pee. I know it sounds awful to put water on your butt if it's cracked/bleeding/open sore feeling, but it is better than wiping. Squirt bottles for all!!

O M G people. I think I'm in love with this stuff. It's like a ice cool water stream on my butthole. It's like a perfectly cool compress for my crack. I haven't felt relief like this in a while.

I can sit normal... walk normal... I'm serious... if you people need butthole relief... skip the prep H, vaseline, all else is inferior to the Calmoseptine. Soo worth $7.99. MBH... ... I think I love you.

OK... I'm totally sold on the idea of MBH's miracle butt cream.
Anyone know if you can get it in the UK?
Why don't they call it "Miracle Butt Cream"... much easier to remember

HAHA!! YAY!!!!!
I TOLD you it was great!!!
I looked for a calmoseptine addicts club on facebook. They didn't have one, but I might start one! Drew says I should be their spokesperson.
Agentx29 - order it!

Hang in there, Katie, hope you get your infusion ASAP!

Calmoseptene is 15.99 on drugstore.com but I'm ordering it anyway. Thanks for the recommendation, hope it gives BF some relief! [have to order it by the case from the company site, but if it works, i'll do it!]

I was approved! Sunday I get my infusion. Still a little nervous about the high dose and a reaction... but I just want to feel better... at this point in my life I don't have time for Crohn's.

i had mine stepped up from 5 to 7.5 it helped me alot and i had no adverse reaction. I wouldn't worry, i am glad you got it scheduled for sunday. only 2 more day!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks MBH... you should get some commission!
Haha - just knowing that others share my love of calmoseptine is payment enough!!
I did check the calmo website, and they have a minimum order of a case of 12 tubes for $70. LolaB's way is a better way to go.
Although if you ask at your pharmacy, they shoud be able to have it by the next day (that's what the website says anyways, and mine has done it before). It IS over the counter, but usually not right where you'd look for it. They keep it up close (probably watching it carefully cuz it's as valuable as crack or something...)
The website doesn't have the free samples anymore either =( so sad.
A surgical supply store might carry it as well, they have completely different things than my pharmacy has. And I am now done preaching about it. For real. No really - I am.
