In Greece there is an immunologist who is concidered the best in the country and among the top 5 in Europe. He works at the University hospital of a city about two hours outside Thessaloniki (where I live). He is very busy, very difficult to find, but he is also a client of the company I work for (Its a company that sells scientific equipment for Unis and hospitals). My boss promised to speak to him and arrange a meeting (or more) for me to see him and discuss about my history and treatment.

I already see two GIs regularly but I am moderately happy with my treatment. One of GI is retiring in December and even though he is a VERY good man and doctor, he is too much into "drugs are the only solution, the stronger the better". The other one is always busy and never has the time to make a proper discussion. Their favourite phrase is "Deal with it - Be patient - Thats the disease you have to deal with it"

So do I take another opinion from another doctor? A tottaly different one? Anyone having experience with Immunologists? Will he be able to help me?
Or I just have to shut up and keep working with my GIs?

I am still new at Crohns and I want to explore all potentials before things get REALLY Nasty KWIM? But I also dont want to loose my time in having useless discussions with docs who cannot really help me.

I'm not sure what to think about this one......

I don't know how much he would be able to offer in respect to your Crohns specifically but being new to the disease, and if you are interested, he may be able to offer insight into your immune system and explain to you what is happening and why..............(((shrug)))

If it was me, and from your description, I think it would be interesting to meet with the guy regardless of the outcome.

Dusty. :)

Hiya

I say go for it! the more the merrier! and if he can't help, then so be it, but you only regret the things you DON'T do, so do it! or you'll always be wondering..what if
good luck, let us know what he says, might be interesting to all of us!

I agree -go for it! Is this someone you could see on a regular basis, or would just be a one-time consult? Either way, he might have an interesting take on things that you haven't heard before.

Good luck - let us know what you decide! -Amy
