:confused2:Grace seems to be heading down hill the last couple days.
Her nurse said everything from her surgery for a g-tube looks good.

BUT.......her tiredness, poo pains, belly pains and joint pains are all coming back. Oh and a new symptom is bad itching.

This happened after her scopes in December.

Has anyone else had a flare up after surgery/procedures to their GI track?

Sorry to hear that she's having more symptoms! :( No surgery here so no experience to share.

Hoping that it passes soon!!! :ghug:

We seem to be in a big time flare here, so I'm going to say yes. I believe there have been other adults on the Forum who've said a colonoscopy has triggered flares for them.

Is she still on pred?

Itching makes me wonder about an allergic reaction. Anything come to mind?

She's off of pred.
She's still on full EEN.
Allergic response is possible but to what, I'm not sure?

Sorry to hear that Grace isn't feeling well. I would venture a guess that surgery could cause a flare. It's stressful on the body, so it would make sense. Could it be an allergic reaction to any of the sedatives or anesthesia?

HUGS!!

Hi there
Just a thought. When I had my boys it was done c section. I started getting itchy a couple of days later. I mentioned it at the hospital and they suggested I was sensitive to the sheets and the harsh detergents they used. It continued to get worse after I left the hospital Got a rash and the skin dr figured out it was I was allergic to the IV antibiotic they used for the surgery.

Not sure about surgery.
But after my daughters colonoscopy she got very sick .
When l told the DR he nodded and said yes a colonoscopy can do that.

I hope Grace gets better soon.:ghug:

I think surgery can definitely cause a flare if they are irritating the stomach/intestines. When Andrew had his colonoscopy/endoscopy his pain was much worse for about 5 days afterwards before starting to settle down. Then after the barium meal he had increased symptoms for a few days after as well.
Sorry to hear Grace isn't feeling great, hope it settles down again!!

Definitely. Jaedyn had her original colonoscopy and endoscopy which showed mild inflammation in one small area. 9 days later she had another full clean out for pill cam and that showed severe inflammation and ulcers throughout! She was definitely hurting after that! It calmed down with the EEN and careful diet though...

Yes it can cause a flare or so says the Surgeon today.
He said their not sure what causes it for kids like Grace.
He said some think it's the anesthesia and not the actual cutting of the track.
The good news it doesn't always mean a full fledge flare.
I pray this is the case for Grace.

Oh I forgot to say....if you notice your kiddo flares after surgery,
that might mean they'll be prone to it.:yfaint:

My goodness FW...:ghug:...I hope things settle for your little princess and she does indeed not have a full blown flare, bless her heart.

In my thoughts and sending love and well wishes your way.
