Hey

Im having a flare up and my option now after two lots of pred is infliximab!!!
I've been reading lots of horror stories about it - is it really that bad??
Im also at that stage in life where me and my partner would like to start a family, its not the right time at the moment, however if i go through with the infliximab and it works can we start a family - does anyone know???

Thank you:ghug:

infliximab and babies

I started infliximab eight weeks before my first baby was born (May 2009). She was fine -- so fine I'd almost recommend the cocktail of drugs I had to take during my awful pregnancy to all parents! Since starting infliximab, I've been in remission and really well. I am now pregnant again. 17 weeks in, it's all going really well -- a million times better than last time round. And since I can't afford a flare-up with a toddler at home I'm sticking with my infliximab. Once a non-interventionist hippy, I now trust my gastro-enterologist and gyny, at least as far as pregnancy and infliximab are concerned. So I'd say, go for it! And try not to worry too much.

Yep, there are many people people on one of the biologics here. Use the search and see what pops up.

:welcome:

I just met with a high risk doctor last week for prenatal counseling, and they are not concerned about my Remicade and trying to get pregnant. I will stay on it if/when I get pregnant. At this time there aren't any studies to show any increased risks to the baby from Remicade. The only thing they said is that they will attempt to time out my infusions so that I have one around 32weeks, and then not another one until after the baby would be born so that I'm not getting an infusion right before birth.
