Just wondering if Crohn's counts for the DTC? It says bowel issues, but not specifics. Thanks :)

Yes it does and I was approved last year back ten years. It is very simple to do. You don't need one of these organizations that say they can do it for a %. All I did was get the form of revenue Canada. I think it's a t2200. And get ur doctor to fill it out then mail it to revenue Canada. Hope this help you

Awesome, thank you so much. Does my GI fill it out, or does my family doctor do it?

I just had my family doctor. Doctors r suppose to charge a fee but mine did it free. Your g I can to. Depends how much your family doctor knows about the disease

Please bear in mind it is not an automatic approval. You and your doctor will need to be able to prove that you are disabled by the disease. I did have this for a few years, but am no longer receiving it. An acceptable trade off though as it is because my health has improved.

How difficult is this to receive? I was under the impression that it was difficult to get approved.

If it is a real clear cut disability it isn't too difficult. At the time I was on it I had been through 4 surgeries, had an ostomy and had been off work for about half a year. If you are going into work on a daily basis it will be difficult indeed to be approved.

I am not looking for the monthly disability payment, I'm talking about the tax credit at income tax time. It's about 2k a year or so, supposed to be a help for having to travel to specialists, paying copays, etc. Incidentals that can add up in a year

Sick - it depends on your particular version of it. I did have this credit under those rules because it did exist for me at a particular time. I needed supplementation for water and had a picc line at the same time as I had an ostomy. It may not be usual, but it can be done. It does take a severe and prolonged case.

I was approved also and I work full time as much as I can anyways. I have moderate to severe crohns and a fistula that drains. Not saying everyone gets approved but it doesn't cost anything to try.
