I have been instructed to take canasa suppository and i can't afford it but i am having trouble finding assistance programs for it, also trying to contact the manufacturer to see if they can help me out. any information would be appreciated.

Rowasa is similar, is that covered by your insurance? Or any other type of suppository? Maybe a foam instead of that one?

No, Cortifoam is prenisone foam, Canasa is mesalamine (rectal suppository version of same drug as Pentasa). I know Rowasa is an enema but it has a generic form and for me it actually works much better.

Okay yeah - now I remember. I was on a mesalamine rectal suspension enema for a while. That one must be generic. Probably not the same as your canasa, but very similar ingredient right? Maybe you could look into something like that. I was also on the cortifoam. Different stuff, but put in the same area.
Suppository is like a pill put up your butt, and enema is like a liquid? Is there any reason they want you to do the pill instead of a liquid? Seems like a pill might stay put better, but the liquid might cover/spread out better.
You might even ask the pharmacist to check similar items and prices with your insurance, they should be able to do that for you - then ask your doc.

Not really sure, but the doc called in a new prescription i'll pick it up today its an cortisone enema i belive i'll get the name later tonight when i pick it up. On a side note i got a second opinion scheduled with the surgeon that originally treated me in 2001 so i will see what he says.

Hey Mark. Good luck with the Canasa. Hopefully you can find some cheap or free.
My doc just gave me a script for Canasa as well. Even with my crappy insurance, it costs 130 bucks for a one-a-day for 30 days. Its ubelievable.
