So, if I end up in the bathroom too soon after putting in the (suppository) Canasa, should I put in another one? I've been really stressed lately and been spending a lot of the night in the bathroom. Last night I felt horrible, but didn't feel like I needed to go to the bathroom at the time I inserted it, but I only made it about half an hour before most of it ended up coming out with some very soft stool (not quite D).

My doctor prescribed it last week after I told him about an awful night of diarrhea, nausea, and dry heaves. He prescribed ranitidine for the nausea (not really helping yet) and since Asacol has been pretty good at keeping my other symptoms at bay, he perscribed Canasa (also mesalamine) since my colonoscopy showed that the disease (or whatever it is that I have!) was localized in the rectum. It may be in other areas too, but it certainly doesn't hurt to get some more localized treatment. But isn't it silly that when I need it the most is when I'm least likely to get the majority of the treatment! The package says I should "leave it in" (which I guess is a nice way of saying "don't poop") for three hours. But anyone with this disease knows that isn't easy to predict! So, is there enough benefit from a half hour of the Canasa to make it not worth wasting another? How should I work this?
