Lately I cant eat solid food.. I drink water tea and some juice and I eat some soy yogurt. Thats ok and I feel fine. But whenever I try to eat solid food I feel sick and in a few hours, after a lot of pain I get diarrhea and its all undigested.. I'm losing weight and I feel so weak and dizzy. I told my doctor and he says it will get better now I am on prednison. But when will it get better and how long can I keep going without food?? I'm worried about my health and my job, I cant work like this.. What can I do to keep myself going? :(

Sorry to post about myself again, its just hard to respond to people how all seem to know each other..

Is there a way you could obtain some high-calorie nutritional drinks like Ensure, Boost or Fortisip? I know depending upon the country you can get them over-the-counter, but in others (like here in the UK, for instance) you will need a prescription.

Either way, those drinks can provide you with the calories you need until the meds start working.

I've been in this position, I find soups really helpful, the fresh ones you keep in the fridge.....

I'm fighting my insurance because of the nutritional drinks. They think I don't need it.. The nutritional drinks are expensive so I can't afford to buy them myself. Its really stupid if I get sicker I maybe have to stay in the hospital, thats much more expensive for them!

I tried soup, that was ok. Problem is I dont really like soup.. I will have some anyway I think so I "eat" something..

Thank you for replying :)

HI there , i have had crohn's for 21 years now and recently have had a flare up and now on predisone. my diet constists of nutritional drinks like boost, ensure, glucama, any nutritional drink will work. i have been on fluid diet for two weeks now and the drinks is the only thing that keeps me going. Hang in there the preds should kick in soon. at least that's what i keep telling myself. i also can't eat solid foods, i tried a hamburger the other day and i thru it up so i know where your coming from, stay with the fluids for a while longer and see how it goes. After that try to introduce a little bit of solid food not much but just little pieces at a time. Boil most of your meats and poultry.try apple sauce and other mushy stuff even if it's baby food. easier on the stomach and very little spice.best wishes.
