I have arthritis in both hips - not sure what type of arthritis, one doctor said osteo and another said inflammatory. For me, high-impact exercise can put me in a lot of pain - jogging is a no-no and sometimes even a fast walk can bring on some pain. Low-impact exercise like bicycling is fine, though. Cold weather is the other thing that can put me in pain, if it's bitterly cold out or snowing a lot then I usually end up having hip pain. Even if it's not snowing yet - like, I remember a few years ago, a blizzard was on the way, and my hips started hurting several hours before the snow even started. In the past sometimes a heavy rain would also put my hips in pain, but lately that doesn't seem to be the case (which is good, because we've had a ton of rain lately). So yeah, for me it's mainly weather-related and high-impact exercise.
