Anyone tried to include cereal grains like oats, quinoa and other millets in ur diet.....just wondering if we can include these as they r more nutritious than rice

There seems to be a lot of disagreement on whether fibre is good or bad. I use a low-residue diet with great success, which in part means no whole grains, no seeds.

I don't do good with grains either. I have been eating corn chex, sometimes the rice chex. I have to add protein powder or peanut butter to the cereal for protein, otherwise I get sick from just eating only empty carbs. Otherwise I just do a protein shake.

Quinoa isn't really a "grain" in the sense of a cereal. It is more closely related to all the beets; it's a member of the Chenopodioideae family. It is also gluten free.

Many people who have trouble with grains can tolerate quinoa. It also produces excellent oil.

I think soluble fibre is good, but insoluble is bad as a rule of thumb. Im fine with oats and love porridge for breakfast

I do quinoa and gluten free oats acouple times a week and when I do it eat I eat alot of it like around 1000 calories worth, haven't had issues. Maybe try a alittle bit of it and see how you react with it.

i eat one cup dry oats daily, as cooked oatmeal.

it contains melatonin in decent levels which is good for the gut, and the entire body.

i typically have issues with barley corn and rice.

wheat oats and properly cooked refried beans, are well tolerated for my crohns.

Thanks everyone.....my doctor advised me to stay away from all millets for the time being....donno y.....will chk with him during my next review....
